Hello all, I have been completely disconnected from the beer world due to a crazy work schedule, but I'm in LA until Thursday for work. I am staying right by LAX and I don't have access to a car, so if someone could recommend a beer store within reasonable driving distance (not trying to spend too much on a cab) I would really appreciate it. Top priority is PtE, but any decent bottle shop would be great. Cheers!
Luckily for you, Wednesday (today) is Pliny day at most of the local shops (if they are going to get it.) Near LAX you can try Wholefoods in El Segundo or Beverage Warehouse in Marina Del Rey
Yes search LAX here. Or else you can drive south on Sepulveda to Whole Foods about 2 miles. You should check out El Segundo Brewing Co in El Segundo on Main St. and right across the street is Rock & Brews (high priced food, but okay beer selection. Theres more options so I would search here as the subject has been posted here several times. I actually work here at LAX.
I just left there and they said they didn't get any. Not sure if they're just telling me that because I'm not a regular, but the guy said they didn't get a shipment.
hmmm if I wasn't at work I'd go down and check myself for you (i like to think they know me hahaha) they do keep some stuff in the back, but I have seen RR on the floor before. it is possible they didn't get any. IF you still have a car and want to drive a bit, Fathers Office in Santa Monica has it on tap quite often. Library Alehouse in Santa Monica also has it occasionally, but I've seen it at FO more
They put it out on the floor, so there's no regular/not a regular policy there. Usually get one case twice a month and they put it out with a four-bottle limit. It's typically gone by 9:45, though.
Mohawk Bend (Tony's sister restaurant) is much closer to LAX than Tony's and currently has Pliny, Blind Pig, and Row 2 Hill 56 on tap. EDIT: That is, if you do the 105 to 110/101, getting off at Echo Park Ave.
Thanks for all of the feedback and sorry about posting a redundant topic. If anyone happens to know of a store that did get Pliny please let me know!
Do yourself a favor and head to the el segundo whole foods and pick up some bottles of beachwood thrillseeker. Still a few bottles on the shelf as of an hour ago.
