That's not unreasonable though personally I like to run a little hot oxyclean through everything first before running my sanitizer through as you really didn't actually clean anything here, and you can't really sanitize a surface that's not cleaned properly. That said, 99 times out of 100 you're never going to have an issue the way you're doing it.
That's a good tip for swapping a keg in an emergency. But, I got to ask... why do you only have 7 legs?
