Not overly exciting, but not gonna complain either. LCBO does a good job IMO of bringing interesting stuff in (not putting it out fast enough though lol). Is cuvéé des Jacobins their traditional flanders red or a different one? Saison Japon is gonna be a first of the style for me. Thanks for sharing
According to the LCBO site, Cuvee de Jacobins is the Rouge: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/223/50772/ http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/cuvee-des-jacobins-belgian-lambic-ale/318758#.VxUWwWQrKb8
Probably a 4-pack of 355 mL/12 oz bottles. The math works out and they used the same format with the Tank 7 that came in last year. Speaking of which, I just finished my last bottle of Tank 7 yesterday and was really hoping to see it return. Hopefully the LCBO won't pre-cellar this one for the 2-3 months mandated by their SOPs
I hope The Calling isn't the same batch that was available in Michigan over a month ago... I suppose that as a year round release we may get fresh stuff (fingers and toes crossed!)
Technically Cuvee des Jacobins is more similar to a force carbonated unblended lambic than a Flanders Red. It undergoes 100% spontaneous fermention, unlike Rodenbach, and it is not a mix of old and young beer. I find it to be of the similar mediocre quality as St. Louis Fond Tradition. One dimentional and sour. Rodenbach 2013 is far superior.
