Anybody ever had a bottle from Cantillon that leaked? I just received the bottle via trade and there seems to be dried beer on the shipper and on the outside of the bottle/label/cap. Is the bottle okay? Will it be flat when I open it?

I've never been able to score any Blabaer, so I would be very happy even to get one that was "leaky."

I don't know but I will be happy to try some with you to find out how it is.

I think the St Lam might be over-filled rather than a leaky Blabaer. The Blabaer I had was filled about the same.

See how there is a stain on the bottle above the beer? It looks like the bottle was more full at one point. That is concerning. And if there isn't a good seal I'm afraid there will be little to no carbonation.

Ah you're absolutely right. It's not uncommon to see broken corks and leaky bottles, I had it happen with a Bruoscella (though that one was already flat to begin with). I'd be more worried about oxidation than carbonation if I were you. I'd drink it soon just in case.

I traded off a 2000 LP Gueze to someone that had had a little sepage and he BM'd me the other day to tell me how great the beer was so you should be safe. The beer was stored properly and it seems the 11 years on the shelf built a little pressure that needed to be relieved even though it was on its side.

Cantillons leak constantly, it's the shitty corks/caps they use. I've seen much worse leakage where the beer was fine. You'll probably want to drink sooner rather than later, but I highly doubt there's any issue with it.

Don't know about Cantillon, but that happened to me with a 11.2oz bottle of Duchesse de Bourgogne. Needless to say I wasn't happy when the $5.50 bottle of, what was supposed to be, deliciousness wasn't very delicious at all.

I've had many a Cantillon with beer seeping out around the cork. They were all still amazing.

Thanks for the info everyone. I plan to drink it sooner rather than later. I will follow up with details! Cheers!

I've opened maybe 50-60 Cantillon bottles in my life and rarely do I not see at least a little cork seepage, if not full on leakage. It'll be fine, enjoy!

Heat stress possibly? I see you're in California. Where was the bottle shipped from?

You damn Americans you consume all the Blabaer, so that I cannot find them in Europe anymore! I would like to know if I'm gonna be compensated about all this damage! :stuck_out_tongue:
