So i just got news from a trader that potentially a cantillon bottle has leaked in his box. No visible damage to the bottle. Hes gonna try and see if it was deff that specific bottle in question. My question to you guys is. Since this was probably due to a faulty cork (which ive experienced with cantillon before multiple times) how do I proceed? Box was very well packed and this should have never happened but it did. Some input would be great.

-Do I replace the bottle completely. (im sure its still very drinkable since i recently drank a leaky foune and it was amazing)
-Do i send a sorry box
    - Just have him enjoy the bottle sooner than later since its probably still drinking fine

Have him text you a photo.... IMO, how you proceed all depends on just how much leaked.

If it was just a tiny bit, then personally I would chalk it up to Cantillon bottles frequently leak.

That's the risk both sides take when you ship/receive a bottle that's known to leak. Was that communicated ahead of time? Did the receiver know it? Not enough info IMO at this point. How would you feel if it were a company not known for leaks?

Well no it wasnt communicated ahead of time. I am not sure if he is aware that loons tend to have leaking problems but hes a very experienced lambic trader so i would assume so. What i told him to do is set all the bottle on the counter for a few hours and see which had a ring around the bottom. He just hasnt been able to pinpoint what bottle but one of the loons is a little lower than the others and he said the staining was darker and is consistent with the bottle in question. my thing its corked so the contents are still fine but i feel like hes worried that they are damaged and it lost all carb. Its the cork that has me saying its fine. If it was another bottle in the shipment that was just capped i would have to replace it just because the beer lost carb and its a lost cause

If he is looking at a bunch of loons, cap and cork are in place, and he can't tell right away which one leaked, it shouldn't have even been mentioned IMO. If he us an experienced lambic trader he should already know. Just tell him it sounds like standard Loon Leak, which is common, and if he can provide pics that show it is something more serious than that, you would be willing to replace it.

Common knowledge that these beers can leak a little. If you feel bad, you can send a little "sorry" box, but if he's traded Loons before he should be ok with it.
