Anyone else got events planned for Learn to Homebrew Day? My club is hosting a group brew demo at the LHBS. Expecting a big turnout on a clear but cool and windy Saturday. I'm brewing 8 gallons of "Belgian Redhead" - Belgian Blonde Ale with a bit more color. I'll split the batch and ferment 3 gallons on locally harvested Brett.

I'll be working all weekend, but I'm gearing up for 10 gal of Rauchbier on Monday. It should be fun.

Going to a buddy's house Sunday (couldn't make Saturday work for both of us) to help him do his first home brew, Irish red kit from NB.

Also bringing my setup next weekend to the official grand opening of one of our brew club member's HBS in Lake Charles for a brew-in.

I've been brewing for less than a year so every brew day is a "learn to homebrew day" lol.

I'll be brewing up @JohnSnowNW APA recipe which he was nice enough to post up in the Homebrew recipe forum here. Got all of my grain, yeast and hops at the LHBS today and will be brewing Saturday morning. Temps will be in the 40's with a 10-20mph west wind for most of the day so I will have a few new challenges to face but I'm ready!

My wife is on-call, and my fermentation chamber is occupied, so no brewing. I will be trying to finish off my APA keg, so I can put my Tripel on tap.

You may want to google a "brewing windscreen" for some ideas on how to block off your burner. I did a quick look and some of them look like a 20 minute project and a trip to said box-hardwarehouse.

I like how you make it sound like a chore to kick a keg.

I brew in the garage on a propane burner with the door open so my adjustments will be pretty minimal. Actually here they are in their entirety:

    1) Back up 3-5' towards the middle of the garage from the normal brewing position just inside of the threshold of the door.
    2) Wear another sweatshirt.

Fortunate to have a day off this Sunday from the hot kitchen and brew an IPA and watch my New England Patriots play the Broncos. have 4 hop varieties going in to this one: simcoe, amarillo, Columbus, and Citra. First time brewing with this hop combo. Hope it turns out!

It's going to rain here on Saturday, but I'm brewing a hoppy Saison/belgo IPA with WLP 568 on Sunday. Haven't decided on the hops yet, but definitely going all new world with it.

All of my fermenters are full. But I may transfer a beer or two to kegs if they are ready.

I'll probably brew a NB Kama Citra extract kit that I've had lying around for a little while - don't want my grains to get too stale. I've actually got a lot of stuff to do right now: I need to bottle my tripel to free up my 5 gallon carboy, I need to transfer my Two-Hearted clone into the carboy and then I'll brew up the Kama Citra and ferment that in my 6.5 gallon carboy. I doubt that I'll have time for all of that this weekend, but I think brewing my last kit is the most pressing of them all.

After this one, though, I think I'll need to take a break from brewing for a bit so I can drink all this beer. My fermenting closet is getting to be pretty full!

15 gallons of Dark Lord Clone. Inviting over some club members to help me out and as a learning experience for some of the less experienced. I prefer jumping off the deep end type of learning (Its the Caltech way), so nothing says jumping in like two mashes using 125 lbs of grain (total), a five hour boil with one mash at the beginning and one 3/4 of the way through. Should be fun.

My process exactly. I'll add antifoam drops and I'll go inside the house for most of the boil. In February, I'm not embarrassed to huddle a little closer to the kettle to stay warm.

I will be teaching an "Intro to Brewing" class at my LHBS. I don't get paid, but I get to keep the beer I make.

Just kind of a consequence, but I'll be teaching my neighbor my brewing process this weekend. He's been interested in brewing for a while, but hasn't yet made the plunge. We're going to brew an oatmeal stout, to which will be added bourbon soaked oak cubes, vanilla and coffee.

Adding coffee to my porter. Building the bulkhead into a 70 qt Coleman Extreme for a second mash run. Now I can mash my Imperials and larger batches much easier.

I helped a friend brew his first batch last Sunday so this weekend is my time to brew. A 5 gallon batch of imperial stout that will get vanilla beans after primary. Step 2 of my yeast Starter tonight and if it goes as expected, brewing tomorrow morning.

Brewed this up this morning: A bitter of sorts
    1.049
    50 ish IBUs

Mashed full volume, no sparge at 153F

Malts: Pearl Malt, Hometoasted Pearl Malt, and Crystal 50-60L
Hops: 100% Challenger @ 60, 20 and with a good dose at FO.
    Yeast: 1469

Everything went smoothly- the wort was really toasty, like brown bread crust, from the toasted malts.

My 2 year old son got sick last night so dad got an extra day off. So I also found 2 leaks in my new CO2 set up that killed my tank. And installed a ball valve in the main CO2 line so I don't have to turn off my splitter and secondary valves to disconnect the tank anymore. Also (finally) installed my thermometer (last year's Christmas present) in my second kettle.
