I'm looking to teach myself how to homebrew. What kind of kit should I get, books to read, online classes, the best websites to check out, clubs to join,to learn all this.I want to start with nothing more than 5 gallon batch. What kind of beer should I start to make and gradually go from there? Eventually i want to open my own brewery.Making crafts beers in small batches.Any and all help is appreciated! Thanks.

It is a lifelong learning process. Start with howtobrew.com. Read as much as you can. Brew as much as you can.

Some of us have learned enough in the hobby, that we don't want to ruin it by going pro. That is my position, and that of many of my friends.

Follow these boards, watch youtube videos, and read www.howtobrew.com as the others have mentioned. A lot of the stuff people are doing will not make sense initially but as you learn more and go back to the watch the same video in 6 months from now you will be looking/listening for different things. You'll be amazed at how fast you pick the info up. Brewing is like an onion, there are so many layers. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want.

I would start with pre-packaged extract kits. They have everything measured out for you with step by step directions so it's pretty simple.

You will probably screw up batch. Don't worry though, we all have and you will learn more from the ones you screw up than the ones you feel like you nailed. Good luck and enjoy the journey.
