You can buy the 12 bottle cardboard + styro shippers at bevmo:

    http://www.bevmo.com/Shop/ProductDe...&Ntk=All&Nty=1&Ntt=shipper&N=0&ProductID=3019

Check them as bags, as said above, totally legal. use packing tape to make your own handles, makes moving the boxes easier, just wrap all the way around the box. Or fill 'em and ship 'em, but add extra packing to secure the bottles as they're designed for wine bottles. I do this all the time when traveling.

Didn't even know that was a viable option. I went La Jolla (really nice btw) and grabbed 2 12 bottle shippers today. This, combined with the fact that I just found out I have sixtel of Parabola waiting for me at home, made today a great beer day! Thank you!

I wanted to thank you again for this suggestion. I flew home on Saturday and had zero issues with checking and receiving 2 wine shipper boxes aboard my flight. Total was $50 for 24 bottles so I am pretty sure that was as good if not better than any price I would have paid to ship the bottles and better yet I was able have my beer instantly. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to travel and bring bottles back home! All in all my trip to San Diego was fantastic and I owe a big thank you to all who pointed me in the right direction from BA.

Cool man! Best idea is to travel with them. That way you keep reusing them and the cost of the shipper keeps going down. TSA has always searched mine going in/out of Houston/Hobby, so my box is pretty interesting looking but it still works like a champ!
