So .... when did LeBlue become so damn popular that it won't even garner a response when an offer is posted with Cantillon and some Coolships? I realize it's an amazing brew, but still ... not one single response when we all know there are people out there with a case of the stuff? Any insight from anyone in the know?
Only 100 people max have any from this release...and its probably more like 75 after wives, girlfriends, butchers, hairdressers, stable boys' cases went to the same place. How many of those 75 post here and also trade? Half? Quarter? I dont know really, just my 2cents.
Not everyone purchased a case .... so it's probably a safe bet that there are a bit more than 100 but your point is valid regardless ....
My $.02 Your offer is completely fair (I got a case of Lebleu). I would take it if I was still trading.
Funny I considered those Coolships when I was setting trades for mine, pretty tempting, and yes Cantillon is as well. I have no idea when it became such a popular beer, but I remember I did a weird trade back at time of the last release that got way more of a crazy response than I expected. It is a really tasty beer, stupidly drinkable, but I have no explanation for how so many have already tried it, the releases have been so tiny, so there must be another explanation for its popularity
This isn't the first time I've seen Allagash Coolships unable to land much larger releases. 12,000 bottle Beatification seems to have more pull than a 300 bottle Coolship release. And it's not like the Coolships are rated poorly or anything - quite the opposite. I would think the novelty of Coolships alone would make them insta-whales. So I find it downright puzzling, but beer traders are a fickle bunch.
that's weird. i actually haven't kept up with what coolships are commanding, though i have seen some "FT: coolship, ISO: shit i wouldn't prefer trying over coolship," in the past few months. i always assumed it did become instantly sought after (shrug). people want what they want though. re: popularity of lebleu, it is a really great beer (blueberry seems like the best fruit for wild ales). weird to me that coolships and cantillon won't do it, but see above for how much i know. also, i traded some lou pepe kriek for lebleu last year (or the year before, i don't know). really loved the lebleu.
It might also be that I heard(someone correct me if I'm wrong) the brewer moved on, so beers like Brute and LeBleu will have unprecedented tight grips on them because the future of those beers is up in the air. From what I heard, they don't know if it'll be made again. Hurry up and hoard them! They're gonna be the next WH!!!
the brewer did move on, to a smaller operation... i forget the name, but i'd like to get over there sometime (it's several hours away, near captain lawrence). honestly, knowing that he's probably not the guy looking over the barrels and such would make me less interested in future brute / lebleu releases, though i'm sure the people that remained are capable enough.
Exactly though, the future of those beers is uncertain...that is why if you ask me, the people that love it are hoarding it. If it gets released again and its just as good, then it will become relatively easier to trade for again.
does make sense. i'm paranoid enough to be afraid this batch wouldn't be as good even though he only left a few months ago, but i'm also very paranoid.
Haha I'm no expert on brewing but I'd think its pretty easy once the beers are in the barrels no? You just have to remember what its supposed to taste like before bottling and wait till it tastes just like that and bottle it?
