This Canadian will be in Fort Collins, CO for a conference in early April. I've been once before and loved the beer I had. Odell was a real stand out among the local breweries. I enjoy a Guinness and Kilkenny with the nitro widget. In fact, I really enjoy it. I have seen a lot about Left Hand Brewing Nitro Milk Stout. I'm hoping to get my hands on some when I'm down in CO. I'm curious - do they have a nitro widget like Guinness/Kilkenny?
Left Hands Milk Stout Nitro does not have the widget but it encourages you to hard pour it into the glass. So basically just turn the bottle upside down and pour it directly into the bottom of the glass.
Don't forget to see how high above the glass you can hold the bottle while pouring. I find this gets to be a challenge after you've had a few...
As the others have stated, no widget is present in Left Hand's, as it comes in bottles. Another has-a-widget can to try would be Murphy's if you haven't tried that already. Definitely seek out the Left Hand since it seems up your alley, and it is really good when you enjoy nitro stouts.
Both Left Hand and Oskar Blue's breweries are about a half hour drive from Fort Collins. Might be worth a road trip.
Left Hand "figured out" how not to use Nitro in its bottles without a widget, but get the same creamy effect. There's another thread out there somewhere from a few weeks back where we discussed that. The marketing stuff is here: http://lefthandbrewing.com/about/nitro/ Some of the science and pouring tips are here: http://www.westword.com/restaurants...s-craft-brewer-to-bottle-a-nitro-beer-5727867 It's a good stout. I really like Nitro Stouts and it is creamy with a good mouth feel. Good stout bitter with some subtle barley/malt undertones.
I had 2 left hand beers sitting next to each other on the bar one night, I grabbed one thinking it was the milk stout and turned it upside down and into my glass. Well come to find out it wasn't the milk stout, boy did I have a mess to clean up after that.
