I would REALLY like to hear the legal issues with brewing this beer at BBC. Especially since this has been done at many breweries around the United States, including MA.

I don't see anything illegal about giving a recipe to a BBC brewer, he/she brewing the beer, giving the beer to a distributor who then gives the beer to Jacob Wirth's. Are adding jalapenos to beer illegal in MA?

I mean how does is the Longshot six-pack legally made? Those are essentially 3 homebrew contest winners whose beers have been brewed and bottled by Sam Adams then distributed across the country. Either BBC never intended to brew the beer and JW lied to create interest in the contest or BBC backed out for some reason.

I've sent an email to our contacts at Boston Beer Company alerting them of this thread.

    So. Much. Fail.

    1. As has been pointed out, Falstaff didn't say this.
    2. While Shakespeare indeed wrote "Richard II" and "Richard III," he never authored a play called simply "King Richard."
    3. Falstaff appeared in neither "Richard II" nor "Richard III," but rather in "I Henry IV," "II Henry IV," and "The Merry Wives of Windsor."
    4. The quotation is actually from "II Henry VI," a play that features neither Falstaff nor either King Richard.
    5. A more minor quibble, the line actually goes: "The first thing we do, let's kill all the Lawyers."

To the OP, I hope this gets straightened out and your beer gets showcased the way you were promised it would be.

    Cheers!

As Senator Clay Davis said in David Simon's "The Wire," "sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit."

I respect your ability to rise above and turn the other cheek. I won't be so magnanamus if this had happened to me.

It is your sandbox and I am all for giving BBC a chance to respond. But if they don't do right by this guy, I'm advocating that BAers spend their beer money elsewhere.

Cool story, but you won't be using BeerAdvocate to do it.

I just received an email from Jim Koch who took a look at the thread. He said he'll be contacting the OP when they figure out what happened.

Locking this one down now to allow the parties involved to sort it out, and to avoid more postings of knee jerk reactions.

    Thanks all.

This thread has a happy ending.

Boston Beer Company will be brewing the OP's beer and serving it in their tour room, which gets a ton of visitors.

    Cheers!
