    Hello all.

Not a big fan of Leinie's...but......

Hit my favorite beer store today and they had this beer
on sale. Can it be as bad / just ok as the reviews here ???
    It was only $4.99 a 12-pack. I got a case.

And by the way.....also picked a Rochefort 8, a few Grieskirchner Weisse,
    and some Lagunits IPA.

    Thanks

Price was a mistake and a solid Octoberfest.

I drank an Orange Shandy today....not a good beer. My sister enjoyed it though.

I've tried Leinie's Oktoberfest, and it's decent. It's not as smooth as I like Oktoberfests to be; it had a nice flavor, but it was almost too bubbly. But I wouldn't turn one down! I'm also not a huge fan of Leinenkugels as a whole, but a good beer is a good beer. I might even be tempted to pick up two cases of it at that price. For an uncomplicated weekday treat or something to offer friends.

Leinie's Oktoberfest is one of their better offerings and definitely a good deal @ 4.99/12 pack. You must have a quality liquor store that wants to move their excess product before it goes bad. Kudos to them. Most wait until the beer has sat around for 6+ months.

I keep passing on this one. Id rather get local Octoberfests that would be similar like Harpoon or Narragansett. Plus I want the Hoppin Helles and I never see it but I see the Octoberfest everywhere.

I haven't had the Oktoberfest, but I would buy a case at that price. Especially if it were in cans.

Really enjoyed the Hoppin' Helles, which I thought was a nice surprise.

I'm a sucker for summer shandy.

No mistake on the price. Store had a mountain of 12 packs....with some people grabbing 12-14 each.

Thanks, I'll be checking it out tomorrow. And yes, it is a quality store.....from what I understand, they're
the cheapest liquor store in this 'great state of Illinois  '

Most Leinies beer unfortunately disappoints. They try to pass themselves off as a quality craft brewery. It's owned by beer behemoth SAB/Miller Coors. The Oktoberfest is just OK. The Hoppin' Helles is very disappointing. Tastes like Leinenkugel's Original with a bit of extra hops.

The Big Eddy series are quite a bit better, but at $12 for 4 12-oz bottles, not an everyday beer.

Leinie's might not be a great beer, but its not a bad one. If I'm mowing the lawn, working in the garage or something, I'm not going to pour a high end beer, nor am I going to go for a Coors or a Bud. Leine fits the bill nicely when I want a decent beer that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Their Oktoberfest is pretty good, and $4.99 a 12 pack is a steal! The Hoppin' Helles was better than I expected it to be as well.

Do they? Not so sure I agree. I think they are what they are and people take them or leave them as such.

If anything it makes BMC drinkers able to pretend they are drinking from a quality craft brewery.

By "passing themselves off as a quality craft brewery" are they stealing business from what we would define as quality craft brewers? I doubt it.

    4.99 a 12er? Good price,

I would buy it and feed it to the vultures, i.e. my non craft beer drinking buddies and my "Jack in the Box is better than gourmet burgers, and Modelo is my all time favorite beer" roommate!!!
