Whenever I can find Jever is relatively fresh condition I buy it. Unfortunately that is a rare occurrence.:slight_frown:

And the fact they use a 15 month duration for a best by date is totally ridiculous!! :grimacing:

Agreed, I usually buy it at a store where the stock turns over quickly, but the Jever is always about a year old. At least there is a packaging date on the cans.

The above recent interaction with @Reef ‘reminded’ me that I have not had a Jever in quite some time. I was at my local Retail Beer Distributor looking to buy a beer from Tonewood. There were eight different brands from Tonewood but not the brand I was hoping to buy (Wading Out). As good fortune would have it, they did have some ‘fresh’ Jever on the shelf. This beer was packaged on 9/30/25 so about 3 months old at this point. This is about as fresh as you can obtain a German import beer.

Beyond the fact this is a tasty beer there are two attributes of this beer that I really enjoy: on the initial pour there is a pleasant whiff of SO2 (match struck) and it is bone dry which invites you to want another sip (and another and another).

Prost to finding some fresh Jever!

I was gonna post this one but then forgot so here’s a picture from earlier in the week referencing the beer that I think @JackHorzempa was looking for.

They brew this beer each year and I love it. I’m a fan of craft AAL especially, when it’s priced well, $11-12 a sixer depending on store.

No off flavor, crisp, clean, snappy bright finish, lightly effervescent with a nice paired bitterness; nicely balanced floral notes in the aroma thanks to the tettnang; high drinkability and refreshing.

I am a big fan of this beer and this brewery.

The "other ones" defined the style, so...

Do you feel it tastes significantly better than the macros (BMC stuff)? The biggest problem I have with craft AALs is that they typically don't taste all that different (or better) than the macro versions, and are usually $3 or $4 more for a sixer.

    “International Pale Lager”

Pretty hefty at 5.8%. Lots of malt. The hops, while floral, are also subtle. Maybe less subtle and just shunned to the background by the malts. Not one I could reach for every day but decent for sure. Cheers! Happy new year.
