India "missed the boat" by not trademarking their name. They would have made a killing off us Americans.

That's the point. Apply the shit that BP is doing to mass produced beer.

30 years ago, there was Firestone NA, from the Firestone-Fletcher Brewing Co. of LA, CA

(if the label design looks familiar, it should be noted that one of the co-owners was the father and father-in-law of the current Firestone-Walker founders).

Ah, looks like there's still opportunity for Upland to make an Indiana Pale Ale

sure Pils is more hoppy & bitter than Schwarzbier, no matter if its black or not. Otherwise they are very similar in OG and composition.

Ballast Point and Bacardi will team up to bring you:

''Guava-flavored Pineapple Sculpin with Lime - Tropics Edition

After Ballast Point changed the game by releasing the limited edition lime-infused varietal of their guava-flavored classic pineapple Sculpin, you thought things couldn't get more innovative. But now Bacardi and BP have teamed up to take things to the next level - again. Tropics Edition is a new approach to brewing, where classic beers are turned upside down with a mix of coconut flavoring* and 100% pure sugar cane syrup. Enjoy BP/Bacardi Tropics Editions straight up, or on ice with a dash of grenadine syrup for the perfect summer drink.''

For what it's worth (very, very little), there's a brewery in these parts that made a czech pilsner that was pale, and then one day they changed the recipe and it was black but kept the same name. The bartender at the brewery asked me, "What did you think of the pilsner?" I responded, "If you told me it was a Schwarzbier, I would have nodded my head in agreement." He grinned and agreed politely. I'm lower on the evolutionary ladder than JackHorzempa (not sarcasm), so my feeling at the time was that the brewery was creating a confusing situation for the customer. If a beer can be a black pilsner and not a Schwarzbier, then what that indicates to me is that we allow more looseness with the pilsner term than the Schwarzbier term.

I think BP applied the shit that was being done to mass produced beer to what they were doing.

Everyone one makes fun of ice light mango but runs to buy mango Sculpin.

I don't get it at all.
