I wouldn't call it hysteria (when we start seeing "I called 20 stores and everyone lied to me about having NN" threads, then we can talk about hysteria). I'd say what you are more likely seeing is just excitement for NN season. It might be the best beer produced in PA and there is a bunch. Almost all the replies in this thread are regarding people buying cases, not 6-packs, not 4-packs, not bottles...but cases. It's going to be on tap all over the place. More cases will be coming soon. For this one time a year I can enjoy a fantastic, locally-made (I'm sure that also plays into it), highly drinkable beer that I can buy a case at a time, and when that case is done, probably go get another. I can't think of another beer I available in SEPA at least where that is true and that i like this much. What's not to get excited about?

Love this reply. I've been drinking Nugget Nectar since early on in my craft days, and have converted a lot of people using it. I get calls and texts from people I hardly know asking when it's hitting shelves and going on tap (in my basement!!). It's a great, local beer, and I can't get enough.

I don't think so, when I was there on Tuesday (they were still bottling it until pretty late in the day) a big baller shot caller came in and bought 15 cases, kudos to you Sir!

"I have to think sixers will be showing up at WholeFoods & Wegmans eventually."

Lehigh Valley Wegman's put it out on Weds, and they are blowing through it, they are completely amazed and getting quite a kick out of it (I talked to folks at 3 of them.) But as mentioned in my post above Troegs was still bottling it up until Tuesday, so perhaps a second wave will hit (like Hopslam did, Shangy's got their second wave last Friday of Hopslam bottle 2/10)

That's not too bad a price for the PP. Do you get a discount if you buy an entire 6 pack there? :-)

Got a case at Kreston's this morning. Bottled 2/13/11. $40.95/case. They had it stashed and limited me to 1 case. The beer guy there told me they only got six cases total. He said they are expecting two more shipments of NN, but couldn't say when. They are supposed to get a total of 40 cases total this year...same as last year. Pretty sure they got 1 big shipment last year. When it was gone, it was gone. I also got a case or two from Atlantic Liquors in Rehoboth last year.

Last year we had my friend and his wife over shortly after I bought a case. I poured him a glass and he took one whiff, turned to his wife and with a completely straight face said, "Honey, I wish your vagina smelled like this." She didn't laugh but I almost shot Nugget Nectar out of my nose.

The Wegmans in Malvern had quite a bit by the looks of it. Picked up a 6 pack for 12.99 I believe ( might have been 11.99 I forget)

Agreed. Hop Slam is hysteria (and I'm sure around here Shangy's BS helps a bunch), NN is simply excitement. In a month you should still be able to find Nugget at your local distributor, with less people posting to FB about it. Speaking of FB and approachability, last year my buddy, who always claimed to dislike hoppy IPA's, posted a pic of him drinking NN. I said, "I thought you hated hoppy beers." He said, "I don't like BITTER beers, but this is awesome!"

A single 12 oz of NN would have probably cost me a second mortgage, so I went the 6 pack route to be safe.

This. Generally, I'm a big fan of stuff like West Coast IPA and Stone IPA and stray from sweeter hoppy beers, but NN just hits such a sweet spot of hop character, final gravity, and specialty malts. Your description is spot on. As to all the talk of shortages, etc., I hope that isn't the case. I don't want trouble when I go looking for another case. I just want to enjoy it.

Edit: It really is one of my favorite smelling beers. So unique.

Second edit: For anyone interested in a food pairing, I just ate some fresh guacamole about an hour before drinking this bottle, and wow, even now the combo is just awesome. Particularly, I think it's the lingering cilantro flavor.
