That is harsh. I picked up a sixer of Hop Hunter on my way home tonight for $6.98. Good brew!

The good news is that Gulden Draak and Fullers are roughly the same price in the US, perhaps a bit more expensive in Mexico. As for Sierra Nevada and Firestone Walker, given that these are imports in this case, those look like okay prices. It can easily be more expensive; Sierra Nevada just became officially imported into Brazil, and single bottles are selling for more than R$20 (US$6.50). Be thankful that you can purchase Sierra Nevada and Firestone Walker.

European beers are recently cheap in Mexico since the largest breweries (grupo Modelo and Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma) were bought by european macro breweries. And that´s soooo nice for guys like me. I can get Leffes at 2 dollars, when they were at least 6 dollars each.

I know, they are expensive, but not as much as in south america, so I gladly pay that.

I can get singles of the Sierra Nevada and Firestone Walker beers for about $1.99 each. The Gulden Draak is around $5.00 here.

Have seen SN Hop Hunter as low as 7.49. Though most days you'll see an 8.49 - 8.99 in Wisconsin

On a related note, can someone from across the pond tell me what something like Paulaner Salvator goes for in Europe? I bought a 6-pack yesterday and I stopped to consider how crazy it is that a great 8% doppelbock, imported from Europe, could be just $8.99/6-pack. I know it's an overlooked style here, and Salvator is a notch below Celebrator and Korbinian, but it's an incredible steal.

How big are the bottles? Based on the size of the botles we could either make you weap or dance with joy.

I think regular size, on the left are the SN and FUJ, the draak on the right. First from the right is a bomber.

If FW is 7.99, what is Lagunitas? 5 dollars?

You are progbably doing OK on the Gulden Draak and the Fullers but you are paying 2-3 times what we are for the American Craft.

So curious now what you pay for the Day of the Dead series. I think it is brewed in Tecate Mexico, so what is the average price you pay for their 6 packs

We don´t have craft beer six packs, all are sale by the bottle. Día de los Muertos is like 1.2 dollars a bottle.

I see you just reviewed the Day of the Dead porter, so you cannot buy those by the 6 pack. Those are brewed in Mexico and brought back to the states, they run 8.99 to 9.99 a six pack. I thought they would be way cheaper in Mexico

Do Insurgente items make it down in Mexico City? I always wondered.

No, the thing is I´m far away from the border, and Tecate (where this beer is brewed) is right at the border (less than 1 mile away) so most of the US is nearer than me to that brewery, I don´t know how they achieve those prices but I think they ship a lot of beer to keep them cheap. Here in central Mexico it´s almost not consumed at all, but it´s available at a lower price than a regular craft beer. This is the biggest mexican brewery since the two mega ones were sold recently to european enterprises.

Yes they do. Well I don´t know if Mexico city but certainly Guadalajara where I´m from. One of my favorite beers is La Lupulosa from Insurgente.

Well, I think your local store is being pretty darn reasonable. Enjoy the beers!
