    3 Questions:
    1) Which beers did you at one time give a perfect score to, only to try it again at a later date, found a few imperfections and knocked it down a little in your score?

    2) Which beers did you give a perfect 5 previous, had once again or several times again, and still keep it a perfect score because it always seems flawless?

    3) Any beers you previously rated below a perfect 5 initially, then only after having that beer again and comparing to other comparable brews, then came to the realization that this beer is truly perfect, and bumped it up to a 5?

    Enjoy!

1.) None as of yet, as I have dispensed only a pair of 5 ratings.

2.) Ayinger Brau Weisse, which to me is the perfect hefeweizen every time I have it, and Schneider Weisse Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock, which is just a potent, flavorful malt-and-yeast-head's dream.

3.) None as of yet. Though I have a fair number of beers at or above a 4.5 rating.

Have not had that opportunity yet, nor do I ever expect to. Perfection is a rare bird.

    1,936 ratings | 3 perfect scores

Previous 5 - Cascade Bourbonic Plague
First time I had it, it blew my mind. The most complex smelling and tasting beer I've ever had. Perfect score.
Next time, a little more experienced and critical about beers, so I knocked it down a bit on look and mouthfeel. To this day, though, the most interesting beer I've ever had, and one of the best.

Remains a 5 - Tripel Van De Garre
Had on tap at De Garre in Bruges. The environment, the presentation, the excitement.. Perfect beer. Brought home a magnum, and opened it with friends, yet the rating did not change. Just a masterful example of beer craftsmanship. It will stay a 5 forever.

No 5's for me either, too subjective to be perfect

I have a hard time throwing a 5 out. Always room for improvement. Even tho some beers in my mind were perfect.

I for one don't find it hard to recognize that something is unable to be improved--exactly right TO ME in every way. Contentment without somehow trying to say it could be better.

Nelson straight from the source two years ago--perfection in every way. Had it multiple times after and if I could have gone >5, I would have. You know, kind of like our amplifiers go to 11.

I find the GF to be getting better all the time--not going to rate, yet.

I stopped rating beers a few months ago, and I never gave a perfect 5

That being said last week I tried Assassin for the 1st time and I think I would rate it a 5

Like many others, I have a hard time dishing out a perfect score. This could be for beer, movies, food, ladies or whatever... only because conceptually there must always be room for something better.

With that said, I think if there was to be a perfect beer - or anything else - it would probably have overly emotional, subjective underpinnings... like 'I lost my virginity thanks to Steel Reserve, so that gets a 5'

I have only rated two beers a perfect 5--Aecht Schlenkerla Urbock and Mystic Entropy..Both I find to be excellent in their styles and have kept them at 5s.

I went back to take a look at my ratings. I have given some 5's under the old system where you just gave a number. I have not given any 5's where I actually wrote a review or ranked in under the 5 categories like it is done now. I am going to make an effort to write reviews for the beers that I ranked a 5. I gave Pliny a 5 and probably still would if I sat down and wrote a review. I just made a trade for a couple of bottles so I will probably do that soon.

no 5s for me, I can't think that I'll ever try a beer where there isn't some aspect of another beer that I think is better.

I recently bumped my score for Boulevard Tank 7 from 4.5 to 5. Every time I have that beer I like it more and more and it just seemed like I should have one beer that's a perfect 5 and Tank 7 deserves it most for me.

Heady. My first review in 2010 was a perfect one. I've revisited it often just to make sure, and finally dialed it back just a bit after I had a comparatively modest 4 pack a while back. My most recent experience with Heady has me considering a return to a perfect score, because it was really drinking spectacularly well.

When grading by the actual A S T M O scale, I find it impossible to give a 5 in all five of those categories.

Hell, I've only given about 10 "5's" in smell, and probably only 20 in aroma....out of roughly 1350 reviews.

None for me either. I live in fear that once I offer a "5", I will die or lose my taste buds, or something not good.

I don't believe in perfection, with beer or otherwise, but I have had some pretty tasty ones

I gave Founders BLushing Monk a 5 due to the 2011 version. It was amazing. The 2015 version was not as good, so had to alter a bit
