Several German pilsners are great. I like the original Budweiser (Budvar/Czechvar). Zatecky pils/lager is pretty smooth. SN Summer Lager/pils is good. Overall, I think German pilsners are some of the best. Believe it or not, the unfiltered version of Tsingtao is really good. It is only available on draught in Qingdao, China.

Pilsner Urquell is complete crap ever since the Iron Curtain fell and they became popular and quite literally sold out. I was over there a few times before that happened (living 60 miles from the Bavarian-Czech border did have it's perks :grinning: ) and it was so much better. *sighs*

As for German pilsner, it begins and ends at the gates of the Brauerei Kneitinger in Regensburg.

    Michael Jackson wrote this in 1998;
"Where does this leave the most familiar example in Britan, Pilsner Urquell? This brewery has abandoned its famous wooden fermenters and lagering vessels and reduced its yeast from five strains to two. It is probably the world's best Pilsner, as well as being the original, but it is not as great a beer as it was. It has, notably, lost some of its complexity and its malty fullness of flavour."

Emerson's organic pilsner from New Zealand. A seriously tasty pilsner from close to home.

Prima pils is a great beer, but not a real pilsner to me due to its excessive hoppiness and mamas lil yella is a bit sweet/ falls flat for me.

    For the US:
Upright - Engelberg pilsner is almost unrivaled, except by two other great Oregon pilsners:
    The Commons - pils
Heater Alan - pilsner. This brewery makes top notch German beers and most are around $4-$5 for a 22oz btl

    Other notables:
    Firestone - pivo
    Sixpoint - the crisp

    In Germany I love Rothaus - tannenzäpfle/pils

A friend of mine in Holland got hooked on Kneities and they shipped there. Inside Germany should be no problem whatsoever.

You know nothing about beer if you are being serious. I say that as someone who doesn't give a squirrel's fart about the science behind beer.

I quite enjoy Southampton Keller Pils, which is really the only Keller available to me in bottles. And no, I don't care if it is contract brewed. I also think Brooklyn Pils is criminally underrated, as is Otter Creek Summer Lager. That said, Prima and Pikeland and Jever are my faves

Locally, Lost Rhino and Port City both put out an excellent Pils. This past year, I hit Tequesta Brewing Co down in FL and couldn't get enough of their Pils, really great stuff. Also, interesting to see how many of top Pils hail from Pa. Those German roots making a good show.

first good American pills for me was victory's prima pills.

a new good one is dogfish's piercing pills.

Two roads old factory pills is my new favorite. dry hopped in the can. awesome. there's draft and bottle but I like the can the best

many American pills come off as corny. wormtown's and nebco's pills are this way.

I love the two you mentioned. If you can get a hold of Marble Pilsner (from New Mexico) it would be worth your while.

Not widely distributed yet, but Urban Chestnut Vaclav and Stammtisch are the two best American-produced Pilsners for my tastebuds.

    Honorable mention to Pivo Pils.
