A friend brought over their BB Ale. Not completely disgusting for a bowl of diacetyl soup. I can see how a little would benefit the style, but I would steer clear if you haven't had it. That's the only thing I've had from them, and it takes a lot more than that to put me off a brewery.

What's the deal with Pumpking this year. Just had one (my first) and it was a total mess, very thin, watery, stale flavor. Do I just not like it or was there an issue with this years batch?

Pretty much what I thought of it last year. Warlock was worse.

That said, this Crown Valley is pretty good. Thanks @Chuk_Hell @PatrickInAustinTx

just finished Warlock and i thought it was thin but the nose and taste overcame the thinness of the impy stout.

but what do i know, i thought it was damn good last year too. (sue me)

Yet to try one of the 2 pumpkings i have, thatll be tomorrow.

still like pumpkin stouts and porters over the ale versions but damn this years pumpkin batches are pretty damn awesome.

and i can get my hands on all of them where in past years it was a stretch to get half of them.

DFH Punkin should drop today in the ATX, if that's your thing...

I actually really enjoy Punkin, it was actually the first beer I had to "hunt" for years ago when I lived in AZ. Maybe I'm romanticizing the beer because of the memory of finally finding it. I find it is really good after a year or so.

I hope I can snag a couple 4 packs this year.

Had Warlock on Nitro the other night. It was amazing. Also loving Elysian Night Owl. Visited my local bottle shop yesterday and dropped a pretty penny on some rare 750's. Got to talking with the owner about being a fan of pumpkin beers and how that is often looked down on by some. He threw a bunch of free pumpkin singles in with my purchase to try and let him know what I thought. All I could think was "Being a pumpkin beer fan got me free beers. Suck on that haters!"

    Isn't Pumpkinator usually about $8.99 a bottle?
I just picked some up last night and I enjoyed it. Very flavorful without being overly spiced.

I actually don't mind Punkin, but hardly ever buy it. I enjoyed the one I had from Heavy Seas, but can't remember the name of it, Good Gourd, and I liked Unita Oak'd Jacked Pumpkin (Bourbon barrel aged I think).

I got a 4 pack of Dogefish Head's Punkin of this year, and still some from last year. So tasty. Much deliciousness. Wow.

Anyways... Dogfish Head's rendition is good. Southern Tier's Pumpking this year isn't nearly as good as last years. Feels a little too carbonated. Their Warlock is pretty delicious in all honesty. All this Crown Valley talk is getting me pining for their pumpkin. I've tried Alltech's and Epic's and Epic does it well. Pumpkinator... I'll pick it up when it comes out, mainly because as soon as it releases, it disappears. What I really want to try is Lakewood's Punkel. All pumpkin spices and dunkel, no pumpkin. Sounds crazy, but being a pumpkin pie *****, I am tempted to drive from Austin to DFW just to get a 6'er... and all the Temptress I could afford. Mmmm...

They only give to bars, so the price I paid was $12.99 +tip.

That is incorrect. I've purchased it several times in bottles from various retail stores. I've only had it on tap at bars.
