Not that you asked or even care lol, but I've been on a huge pumpkin kick and am currently drinking any that I can get my hands on. The fine folks at Whichcraft brought some back from dfw and honestly, I didn't finish it. I really didn't care for it. That and the Kentucky Bourbon pumpkin ones have been my least favorite so far.

Really? That saddens me. I'll still try it if I can get it (and I definitely will purchase Temptress; I love it), but I'll go in with lower expectations. Salutations, good sir.

Just spoke with Whichcraft and they have about 4 cases left of Punkel. So at least you won't have to make that drive. BTW I LOVE temptress. One of my favorite beers from TX period.

Never been to Whichcraft. That might have to change... Do they carry Temptress or anything else noteworthy ya can't find anywhere else in Austin?

They only brought down Punkel, Hop Trapp, and Lager. They brought down some Community beers along with the Lakewood stuff as well. E1G does the same sometimes, you just have to keep an eye on Twitter since this is basically the retailer doing the distro work and so there's no real schedule to it.

Harpoon Imperial Pumpkin was the best in 2013 according to my taste buds and it is my favorite this year so far. It is a nice spice stout that is not overbearing and is well balanced. It does not have any nasty stale pumpkin aftertaste that Coors Light drinkers seem to enjoy. This is the second year for this seasonal. They got it right the first time.

I quite enjoyed the cherry wheat - blows Sam Adams out of the water (to each their own of course). Having never really heard of them before they came here, I've been REALLY impressed with Atwater, they make great stuff.

Took a short trip to VA this week and tried Alewerks Pumpkin Ale. One of the best I've tried. Very soft on the pumpkin pie spices and more focus on the pumpkin meat and rich toasted pumpkin seed flavor. Wish I'd grabbed more than I did as this would be a nice Autumn go to beer.

I'd consider checking out Sleepy Hollow by 5 Stones. Maybe not the best pumpkin beer, but when I tried it, it wasn't as aggressive with the spices and on the dry side. Very different than most pumpkin beers. I also thought it was one of their better offerings.

But it may BE the best pumpkin beer. I absolutely loved Sleepy Hollow 2013. Can't wait to try 2014. Smoking the pumpkins adds a very "Autumn-y" dimension to it.

Agreed. Would have been more accurate if I said it was not the most typical pumpkin beer. I remember liking it for the reasons you pointed out.

Whole Hog is my favorite from last year. I had Warlock for the first time and wanted to pour it out. It was awful. I bought Pumpking though so I'm hoping I have a better experience with it.

I found it at the Bandera HEB last weekend. They were even doling out samples of it. Quite tasty.
