The Beer Trappe just got Double Crooked Tree in.

Liquor Barn in Beaumont has several 4 packs of Alchemy Hour and they have Double Crooked Tree.

On another note, has anyone found any gas stations that have a decent beer selection. The Marathon on Newtown Pike next to Denny's has a surprisingly good selection. Are there any other hidden gems in town?

Good for a gas station or an actual good selection?

What is a "good" gas station? What do they carry?

They are by no means a place to go to get a limited release or anything but they have a good selection for a gas station. I have seen 3 or 4 DFH including 90 minute. 4 or 5 Founders (FBS). 3 or 4 Great Lakes and Bells. 2 or 3 Green Flash. Chimay and several stones. Have bombers of Stone. At least 4 every time I go in. I have picked up Hopslam, Hop Head Red, Brekfast Stout, Stone arrogant bastard, Lake Erie Monster, West 6th, and several others. I was just thinking that this is unusual for a gas station in Lexington. Often times I stop there on my way to my moms to pick up the kids and i dont have time to run to a liquor store. Most gas stations have BMC and a limited supply of anything else.

That is a decent selection. Space is the problem at most c stores. They want high volume items (cigs, bmc beers, chips) or high profit items that do not spoil (soda, candy, snacks).

Sounds like they have a beer fan working for them or a rep offering good advice on what to carry.

It's funny, since I stop in there almost everyday, I have an OCD path that I follow:

    - Immediate right upon entering, along the windows. They put random 12 packs and cases over there, it's where I found SN's Beer Camp pack before they moved it to the main floor.
    - Along the deli counter to check taplist; you'll notice some of their beers have been on tap for months. I tasted their Freshtracks Wet Hopped ale, completely flat. I should probably let them know...
    - Continue along display cooler for random chilled bottles and six packs; I can only assume they had this area here and had no idea what to use it for, so they just filled it with random beer, wine and chocolate.
    - Proceed to walk-in cooler and check it out all the way to the end where the yeast and hops are; they keep a lot of chilled Belgian lambics back there. Not to mention, I've seen a few nice bottles randomly placed on the shelves back there, like maybe employees are hiding them...?
    - Exit walk-in cooler and peruse windowed coolers.
    - Check out main bottle section and be sure to check out the right wall where most of the BMC stuff is; they move brands around a lot and they keep Hitachino Nest, Cucapa, Goose Island, Fort Collins, etc., on that wall now.
    - Check singles at the end for any nice one offs.
    - Check along glass windows where the fine wines and cigars are; that's where I found the Enjoy By.
    - Check the display where the super expensive scotchs and bourbons are; they've been putting rare stuff in there lately, like the BA Bigfoot when it first came out. There are a few bottles of Stiegl Double IPA in there as we speak, I picked one up for myself.

Only addition is I check the homebrew stuff to see if there is any inventory I need that they have.

We follow almost the exact same pattern, as if they wanted us to do that.....hmm:

    1. Fill your growoler
    2. Grab a 4 or 6 pack out of the little random beer cool case.
    3. Grab another out of walk in cooler.
    4. Oh shit there's more in the wall coolers, grab another.
    5. Look at all the bottles! I have to get one!
    6. Oh shit really fancy stuff with cigars and fine wines. Ok I'll get one.
    7. Checkout, damn! A case of hopslam? Sure!
    Receipt: $237.52.
Two days later, back for more. I live in Andover so.....it's pretty damn convenient.

    Weekly Routine:
    • Liquor Barn: Every other day, and Sunday when it first opens
    • Country Boy: Random weeknights, especially if something new is tapped.
    • West Sixth: Once a month or so, buy their IPA about every LB trip.
    • Beer Trappe: When something interesting is tapped, which is often.
    • Pazzo's: When I have to bring kids too
    • Homebrew: try to every week doesn't always happen
    Monthly:
    • Justify beer spending with wife
    Annual:
    • Some sort of beer centric trip

That's hilarious. I bet we see each other like every other day and never thought twice about it. :grinning:

Probably! I'm usually lost in beer thought somewhere

I'm usually the guy half-way ignoring whichever kid I have in tote (who is probably carrying a bottle or two since I always grab the stupid little hand cart thingy and they all never fit...)

My 2 year old is obsessed with beer (& pirates)... He thinks Beer Trappe is a pirate hideout where we swig brews and diddle wenches.

My daughter when she was 5, "go away I'm mad" statement was always "Go to beer trappe and drink beers daddy"
