For those of you who have had any of their sours, what did you guys think? There aren't a lot of ratings for their sours and I am trying to gauge whether i should join their club or not as it seems like a great deal for the price.

I've had pretty much all the sours they've produced since late spring on tap and most were decent to really good. (My ratings are over on RB under the same user name.) I was a member of the club this year and have opened three of the bottles so far. One was really flat but the other two had nice carb and were very nice beers. Then again, I moved up to Morro Bay in May so now I'm just a homer. ;-)

Still, one of the better clubs for the price around especially if you ever make it up to the pub to take advantage of the discounts.

I was in there a few weeks ago on my way up to Monterey. They had some interesting things on tap. I tried one of their sours and thought it was pretty good. I purchased a bottle of the Bella Rouge but have not opened it yet.

They are making some great stuff. The Framboise is excellent. There are a couple carb issues, but they are bottle conditioned. The perks at the pub are great with the membership. They are also expanding to SLO for a larger production. Lots of stuff pouring in-house that are not bottled.

I'm not allowed to say anything positive about them because they are one of our (new) accounts & the CA ABC interprets "superlatives" about accounts to be a "thing of value", which of course breweries are not allowed to give to accounts (although many do, illegally!)

So I will say these two things instead: 1) Myself, my sales dude, & one of my brewers tasted through everything they have in barrels last week, and 2) I wish the law were different.

    Cheers & thanks,

FWIW, if anyone needs a trustee I can likely help out. I can either ship (just send a shipping label) or if anyone is in OC I'm down once a month for work in Irvine.

I've had a few of their beers and have enjoyed them, especially the more recent ones I have had. I think they are continually improving and agree it is a good deal.

I am a fan, but wish they had a little more variety. Several of them I have had over the past two years use the same base beer and don't stray enough to make them distinctive from each other.

I want to see them take a few more chances. They have a lot of space and barrels in that basement, roll the dice!

Finally some communication. For those who may have missed it:

"Sorry for the long wait since our last email, but we've been busy building a new production facility in downtown San Luis Obispo! The brewery will feature an open fermentation & coolship room and a 15-barrel brewing system, meaning more Libertine beers coming your way soon!

We're hoping to open phase one in August which will offer a 12-tap tasting room & growler fill station. That's right, we'll be filling growlers of your favorite sour beers! Opening later in the year, phase two will feature a full kitchen, coffeeshop and a 64-tap beer bar featuring our favorite guest brews, wine & our own line of house made cold press coffees."

And exactly as @IggyWH stated before regarding bottles for members... "What better way to open a new brewery location than with a beer release party? Join us in the Fall for bottles of Bierre de Table Chocolate Vanilla Gose, Bierre de Table Framboise & a very special single-barrel series."

This was the info from 2015:

I got to think that with increased production, they'll do more events around California, so a trustee may not even be needed. I usually include a Morro Bay trip with my Firestone Barrelworks Liberations.

Yeah.. I didn't read any of the dates on the posts. Guess I'll be sticking to the taproom. Definitely a good idea to head up there after Buellton!

If they open up for new members in 2016 I will need to save some pennies to get in. After TRB these guys just killed it at Stone SourFest this year....so much so that the Cantillon iris keg took quite some time to kick.

FYI, Libertine's new facility means no bottles available now and none for about a month.

Dammit, my mule is going there today!!

Good to know. Was planning to go this Sunday for their tour and pick up whatever bottles they had.
