Tried it on draft today. Smelled it and thought it was going to be a sweet mess. Taste wasn't bad. Probably wouldn't be able to drink more than 6 expensive ounces, but I could do it.

The quad was fine. The bourbon tripel was...yikes. The regular line 750's are just so expensive.

Almost in a similar vein with some Virginia wines; not bad but also not a real value at this point in time given the high price.

From my understanding, the Despot release was pretty much brewery-only, sans a few cases that Brown distributed into their best off-premise accounts in and around LCCB'S immediate home market and the Richmond area.

I went by there yesterday! I thought all the brews were solid, and the staff were really cool. They even pulled out some of the brews that weren't on tap. After speaking with them, it looks like 180-200 days before we see Despot again. We all have to remember this is a newer brewery, and if their first brews are this good, I think the future is quite bright. I love the farm aspect of this place, and there's plenty of parking.

I would definatley recommend checking Lickinghole Creek out, and I can't wait to try the Despot!

I went down to the release of Bathchelor's Delight on Saturday afternoon. Aged in Nicaraguan Flora de Cana Rum Barrels for over 12 weeks, the Batchelors Delight is a unique and delicious Belgian-Style Quadrupel Ale.

It was a fantastic beer! I also had a pour of their Bourboun Barrel Trippel which was phenomenal as well. I think that the future is very bright for this brewery. They just started distributing in my neck of the woods (Central VA) as of last week.

Anyone else make it down for the 'Pirate Party' on Saturday? What did you think?

Just a side note that David Achkio is their Head Brewer, not Sean-Thomas Pumphrey.

The Virginia Black Bear RIS is phenomenal, try it if you see it. Its the base beer for the Enlightened Despot, and now I'm starting to understand why the Despot is so good. These guys continue to impress.
