Wow, too bad mainland Lidl don't have the same deal.

They didn't have it in my Lidl :slight_frown: But they did have Sheperd Neame Double Stout which i've never seen before. ALso picked up a Banks's Bitter, both for a reasonable £1.19, or I could have got 8 for £8

I had the Double stout around this time last year. I think it's a 'Lidl only' product from Shep Neame - intended to coincide with St. Paddys day. I recall that it wasn't too bad, but Shep Neame does seem to pump out a lot of cheap stuff for Lidl - much of which is fairly dull.

Always nice to try something new  Especially for so cheap!

hmmmm .. quality not quanity !

I reckon you'll get more enjoyment from 4 bottles of Windsor & Eton than the 12 above!

but for a student like yourself I guess it's a good deal !

btw - had the treetops stout on cask last night, first of their Diamond Jubilee beers

great flavours for a 4.4% stout as I often come across bland tasting examples

the bottled version (when available) is a bit stronger I believe!

    arguably the best till last!

certainly in terms of an excellent job in recreating a style not common amongst british brewers

They do have the Hopgoblin from time to time, also some Sheperd Neame brews... and for a very good price as well. Half of what Mitra is charging....

I can't wait! Loved the Conqueror beers too. What temp would you recommend the Republika be drunk at?

    "quality not quantity"....
That was my first thought as well when I read the list of brews. They're good value, but I'd only really rate the Hobgoblin and Brakspear as worthy of having more than once.....
Lidl and Aldi occasionally have something interesting in at a good price, I just wish they'd spice up their offerings a bit more frequently.

I've got a Republika as well - not sure when I'll drink it but it sounds promising!

I've always had the Republika straight from the fridge and maybe let it sit for 10/15 minutes before pouring

I'm not in the hardcore/high tech school of specific temperaures but my fridge is on medium setting 3 out of 5

Not in mine but they did have 4-packs of Hoegarden for cheap.
