Life after Poo-Bah

I got to meet/know Woody Chandler since he would wear distinctive clothing (a monk motif) while attending beer festivals. Every once in a while he would accessorize with headgear:



Woody unfortunately no longer participates on BA; he decided to step away.

I felt the same way when I reached Meyvn status except for:

1. a. Will never stop drinking IPAs but the numbers are down.

2. No Malt Liquor.

4. a. I used to like Bourbon but have little interest in barrel aged beers.

5. Still buy singles but I always buy at least two.

I drink 2 beers per week (occasionally 3) due to health issues, I'm fine it's the meds.
Revisit has been the norm and the few new beers I've tried recently were from my favorite breweries.

I've never been much of ticker; I've stumbled on to new styles by trying different beers from breweries I'm familiar with. I have a much longer list of preferred hard-to-find styles than my list of styles yet to try.

Less disappointments, searching and researching, and less time shopping.

I’ve been here since 2010 and I’m a Devotee or something I used to be more interested in ranking up but between pursuing promotions at work and when I was in the military, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teaching me that with patience and hard work the ranks will come, I ain’t even worried about it

 

Poo-bah status achieved just prior to my 2 year anniversary here. Felt like a 2 run homer! No change in habits and with the covid pandemic becoming an endemic & eased restrictions, I'll get back to my 1X per year beer party in the woods with oodles & kaboodles more beer knowledge thanks to BeerAdvocate and will softly try recruiting some beer lovers to join the BA society. 2023 is gonna be a biggie if things line up even 1/2 decently and there's a smaller 10-12 keg shindig in the spring at an oulde campground that I sometimes attend. I will forever love beer.

 

We only speak No-Gi Rubber Guard here, bro

Ticking, the bane of my existence...and my reason for seeking out more and more beers. Monthly beer boxes. Three monthly trips to the bottle shops and any beer fest that I can get to. So looking forward to the GBBF Winter in 2 weeks...ticks galore

There's usually 2 or 3 bbls xtra and those can be bought or used to fill growlers, H2O bottles, jugs, whatev. It's all part of the cost anyway! This reminds me to go tent shopping...Cheers!

 

I got up to 1300 points and was moving smoothly along. I was reviewing new beers pretty regularly and posting on WBAYDN. Now I'm sick. I'm still drinking new beers and lurking on WBAYDN, but I just don't have the energy to post anymore. I'm not sick with the flu. This is my fourth time with cancer and it's the third time it's been terminal. I may well never get to Poo-Bah, but this site has brought me a ton of enjoyment over the years.

My gym has an instructor who teaches a lot of bravos stuff translated to the Gi (hence the gubber). Im not flexible at all so it doesn’t go over so well for me trying to do them

You could attempt to get all Top 250 even though that changes often. At least go after then styles you like the most and get the best of the best of those.
