Yes but also to have the option to have taps, which is what whole foods will be doing.

Not all of them in FL do yet, but I have been more than impressed with the ones that do. I'm hoping they keep developing and eventually end up with pretty spectacular tap lists(see WF Coddingtown California).

hopefully any trader has a better selection in their cellar/fridge/closet than the FL bar using FL distro does. Judging from your cellar, you expect a bunch of capt lawrence, Firestone, FFF, and cascade on tap...

I think certainly Redlight is the best "geek" beer bar in the state, but bars like WOB, Brass Tap and the like are a big part of the force driving interest in beer in our state. Yes we have good breweries and beer geeks already, but if it werent for places like these opening up and introducing tons of people to craft beer, increasing demand for, and (sometimes) education of craft on a large scale, perhaps we wouldnt be seeing the interest in all these great breweries expanding to the FL market. not even 4 years ago, our selection was much slimmer than it is now.

Like Kennedy said, "A rising tide lifts all ships."

I don't really frequent those bars either unless they've got something really cool on (Wiregrass Brass Tap had SitR/peaches on recently), because as you said, they're not really a draw for a beer geek. But they are very valuable to craft craft beer community as a whole.

    Cheers.

The license is like $400, so the little guy CAN do it, just a matter of cost/benefit ratio.

Its less than that but its a yearly payment. I was referring more to how there's always some lame reason for what goes where and who gets what.

In Florida there are 3 basic liquor licenses.
1-Beer and wine consumption/package lic. About $30-1500 per year depending on seating capacity/county population.
2- SRX- Restaurant lic. easy to get and you must sell 51% food and have minimum seating requirement. This is how most BIG chain restaurants get a liq lic.
3- Most expensive. COP Lic this is what you find in most bars, sale and consumption on premise allowed as well as to go. A local WOB just purchased a 4COP for $85,000.
I used to own a bar and we had a 4COP. I could sell a bottle unopened to a customer at the end of the night if they wanted to keep the party going. (bar closed after family member passed away but we sold the lic for $150k.
Most liquor stores have this type of COP lic.

Hell the ABC in Lake Mary is giong to start selling growlers next week.
