Lifetime beer consumption

10,000 hours. I've become the Beatles of beer drinking!

Actually, I bet not. I was going to do some quick math to see how much I had drank when I saw your post. A bit of googling got me the answer that the average American swimming pool a bit over 20,000 gallons. If you drink a growler (1/2 gallon) a day, that's over 40,000 days. If you live to be 80 years old, that's 29,200 days. It sure is fun trying though!

 

Been sitting here for the past 20 minutes or so trying to calculate this... At the height of my binge drinking, between ages 17 - 19, I drank roughly every weekend, with taking only the very occasional weekend off (and trying to "make up for it" the following weekend). Each weekend I would consume a rough average of 20 beers.

52 weekends in a year, two years, 20 beers per weekend... 2,080 beers over those two years alone.

Drinking before those years (ages 13 - 16) wasn't nearly as prominent, but still happened... estimating maybe 200 beers in three years. Total is now ~2,280.

Age 20 I was a very reserved drinker, drinking only at family events when beer was very easily provided and didn't have to be sought out. Maybe 75 beers that whole year. 2,355.

21 saw yet another influx of beers. Out to the bars on most weekends, starting really delving into craft... Easily 800 beers consumed. 3,155.

Midway through age 22 and I drink roughly 10 - 15 beers per week. We'll say 13, to go with a midpoint. We're at week 31 of 2014. ~403 beers thus far this year.

My very rough estimate for total beer consumption in my life is 3,558.

 

I've literally pissed away a small fortune. Not that I am complaining.

 

Sounds good but really, doesn't it "sound better" to say I've drank enough beer to drown a heard of water buffalos.

At age 60 I can look back at it objectively and honestly tell you, not enough.

 

No need for rationalization. As long as you arent hurting anyone else, then do what you like to do. We only have so much time on this earth, so enjoy it!

 

Weird... I was just thinking earlier tonight "how many bottles/cans of beer have I consumed in my 43 years?"

It has to be thousands... maybe tens of thousands... would anyone here believe hundreds of thousands?

Interesting thread. Just looking at my Untappd account I've registered almost 1600 total beers (not different kinds) since I've registered in Nov 2013. A lot of those have been bombers or 750mls. Only been into craft beer in the past couple years. So doing the math and going back on a solid 20 years of drinking beers it's easily over 40,000 beers.

 

Living in Ireland teaches you how to answer such questions.

Sure, I've had one...maybe two litres in me life, so I have. Couldn't be more than three. Maybe four, now - so - if we's countin' Tuesdeys...

 

Several thousand gallons.I have spent tens of thousands of pounds of my money on beer and wasted the rest.

 

Just enough to keep me from blowing too much money on records and guitars like some kind of idiot.

 

Probably too much money for my wallet's liking and too many pints for the doctor's liking BUT there's nothing like a cold beer (or 6) out on the porch after a long day of work.

 

So far in the last 2 years more beer consumption that in the entire time before. It's a big ratio.

 

I suspect that I've drank all my share and half of some other guy's.

 

Let's just say when I heard Toby Keith sing about "1,452 beers ago," I laughed and almost spit my beer out, because some quick math told me that would only be less than a year ago.
