    Hello,

This is my first time posting, but I wanted to get some opinions out there. I am buying my own beer for my wedding in Western NY in June. I think I have my main beers decided on to keep everyone happy, but I figure I should have one light beer on hand for family/friends who want it. Any ideas on what I should go with? I was thinking coors light, but some people have said Amstel light. I'm really open to anything, I just want everyone to have a good time. Thank you for your help in advance.

Yuengling Light is likely to be both cheaper and better than anything the big boys do.

Honestly though, it really doesn't matter.

Yuengling Light is a good one. Corona Light. Heineken Light. How about Brooklyn 1?

Obviously Keystone Light, Always Smooth, Never Bitter!

I was thinking that as well. I just randomly have family coming from all over the country and some from Europe randomly. Genny Light was also mentioned, but I'm not sure I can make them endure that.

Just serve Hopslam. Reception will be hilarious with Granny on Hopslam.

If I could get Hopslam in NYS, I would based on all the reviews.

Does it literally have to be a beer with "light" in its name? Or can it just be a light drinker? Or can it just be a macro-type beer?

If it's #2, then Bell's Two-Hearted is always the credit response IMO. If it's the 3rd, beers like Yuengling and Newcastle actually get some respect around here despite their (I believe) "macro" status.

For the record, I despised Yuengling Light when I had it, and I was just barely into craft then.

Honestly, if you have other offerings picked out that you like, there is nothing wrong with having one macro, light lager for the masses. In fact, it's a smart decision. Go for the Coors Light.

I'm not a big light beer fan but I have to say, Sam Adams Light really impessed me - it retained decent flavor for a Light Beer.

Sam Adams light, I forgot about that one. A lot of my family is Irish and from PA, so I am going to have Yeungling and Guinness for them. I then plan on having a Pale Ale or IPA and a wheat beer to keep everyone happy. I'm not looking to break the bank since my fiancee are paying for everything ourselves for 100 or so people. I have a few bottles set aside for the wife and I to celebrate with. I have a King henry and few others to celebrate with. She's also a beer fan which works out great for me. We were just at an Ithaca vs Stone tap takeover which was was amazing.

Duff-I'm from Grand Island & one of my daughters is getting married on Sept. 8. The reception is at the Millenium Hotel & as part of the dinner package we had a limited choice of Coors, Bud, Labbat & Molson (regular & unleaded). I choose Molson & Coors light & I added 2 cases of Victory Prima Pils & 2 cases of Souther Tier 2XIPA. Where is your reception?

I'll be in Rochester at Artisan Works. The venue is awesome for being something completely different and gives guest tours of all the local artwork. They provide a bar and a bartender and you provide all the alcohol yourself. The food can be the same, but they have an amazing culinary team.

We also brought our own beer for my wedding, and for my non-beer drinking crowd I wanted to go with Yuengling lager, SN Pale Ale, and DFH 60 minute. And then my Dad insisted that I needed a light beer so we finally agreed on Miller Lite, which is what my father in-law drinks. At the end of the night, literally not one Miller Lite had been opened but most of the Pale Ales and 60 minutes were gone.

Based on my own experiences, I would say buy very few of whichever one you end up going with.
