Bell's Oberon? Damn tasty stuff, that is. First tried it at a baseball game in Chicago. Drank about five of them, despite the rather hefty pricetag of drinks at a MLB game. And I don't even really care for baseball! :grinning:

If you did, you probably would have consumed less. Was it the Cubs or the Sox?

You know where this is going.

I can't think of many other reasons I've been a Cincinnati Reds fan through some of the bad years. Three words: Great Lakes Brewery.

I was going to say "Marge Schott?"
But then I counted the words.

I do a 2.5% ABV Saison with a bunch of flaked wheat for body and Nelson sauvin hops, also a 3.5%abv black Saison that I add some Jolly Pumpkin dregs and get a little funky. Last year I made 30+ gallons of gose spiked pre fermentation with lactic acid.

I recently brewed Damphbier that I really liked. All 2-Row fermented with 3056, which I find makes more stone fruit esters than bananna with some phenolics. I just let it ferment at room temperature which was about 65F at the time. Pitched low at 500K cells/ml/plato. Bittered to about 10IBU at 60 minutes. Malty water profile.

Looks like I made 2 different batches. One was OG50 with 5% sugar (I was getting 70% attenuation and wanted it dry). That one ended at FG15, a bit higher than I wanted.

Second one I used only 2-Row with OG45, no FG reading recorded:astonished: .

I guess these are alot like a kolsch, just with Hefe yeast. I like the history of this beer as it is alot like my brewery, poor people scrounging for some drink.

It was the sox. We were actually near the cub's stadium but there wasn't a game that day, so we went on the train to see the sox. At the time I was in the army and they let us in free. We should have gotten free beer too, but at least we got good seats. :grinning:

Look up Helles, German Pilsner, Czech Pilsner, CAP. These are my favorites.

I like Pilsner recipes pitched with the California Lager yeast. Also California Commons. Have fun.

Actually, they also had great lakes at the stadium. I had one, can't remember which one but it was delicious. :grinning:

But damn I drank the shit out of that bell's oberon. It just goes down so easy! Who's got the clone... :sunglasses:

(I have no idea who won the game, nor do I particularly care, but I think they played detroit, just so you baseball fans can have closure)

We're brewing a Kolsch this w/e with streiselspalt hops. I haven't tried those before.

I go to Sox games a lot, and have never seen great lakes :-( *pout*
