Brawler looks like a good one! Don't think I've seen it locally, but will be on the lookout for it. Thanks for the heads up.

Many of their fruit beers like strawberry rhubarb, raspberry tart, etc are around or under 150 calories and 4 or 5% abv.. And are awesome

Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald. One of the most flavorful porters in the country, certainly one of the best regular production beers that GLBC puts out, and weighs in 5.8% at 174 calories.

I've lost 24 lbs in less than 3 months, but it takes drinking less, and when you do it's 80% Miller Lite/Ultra and 10% mixed in IPA's and BCBS for me. I appreciate them so much more, and I an afford to trade for better stuff because I'm not sucking down a case of beer a week.

I would rather get fat and drink good craft beer than drink half-assed shit, but that's me.

You also have to consider how many miller 64's it takes to have the same effect as one actually good beer. If you're drinking 10 64's , you're at the same spot as 4-5 founders all days which would have most ppl feelin pretty good..

For an actual light craft beer that is branded as such, Sam Adams Light is pretty good.

So I've heard. I've never actually had it. I assume it's the lightened down version of Boston Lager?

in this case i like to blend beers and take the weighted average of the two or three beers im blending.

KBS and stone levitation = 6.4%
Hopslam and Weihenstephaner Hefe = 6.75%
Founders double trouble and Cantillon Cuvee St Gilloise = 5.25% (personal favorite)

That would be my recommendation as well. Why deprive yourself of something you love? This is why crash diets never work. You can only hold out so long before you inevitably cave. You can't expect to keep it up forever. You have to have a long term solution in place. Up the ante on your workouts and drink what you want. In the end it's a win-win.

I can't help but suspect that repeated palate assault by big beers desensitizes people to the fine flavors in many lower-abv brews.

That's akin to saying after sleeping with 10's you don't appreciate sex with 5's.

I'm actually not crazy about Cricket Hill East Coast Lager. I've had it on tap at Yogi Berra Stadium and have had it in bottles in restaurants in Fairfield. I'm not saying it's terrible. But it's not a beer that I have any desire for. But thanks for the suggestion.

    I don't THINK anyone's mentioned it yet...

Goose Island's Honker's Ale...TONS of flavor, and only 4.2% abv. It's also a relatively dry beer, though with a nice toasty malt profile, so I don't think there's prob. a ton of unfermented sugars to pack on calories. It should be available pretty near everywhere...
