So certain breweries release beers in very small quantities and number each bottle (i.e: 200/360) so my question is as far as over taste which would be the better beer. number one or the last one. heres the reason I ask. I bought a 2012 dark lord de muerte # 817/817 at dark lord day last year. Just curious what other people think, my opinion is that it might have "more" flavor to it since its the last out of the barrel???? DARK LORD TIX ON SALE IN LIKE AN HOUR GOOD LUCK! CHEERS

The last bottle is pretty much just backwash.

I don't think it makes any difference whatsoever.

This assumes they're numbered in the order they're bottled. That isn't necessarily the case at all.

I'd have to go with bottle 576.

The Hops will have faded in the first few hundred bottles, always go for the latter ones

Numbering bottles is a marketing technique designed to get you to pay more for the same beer

I think last years 576 was better. This years was a bit off.

Only clarifying, are you calling out the issue of brewers taking "one" of their beers and barrel aging it, numbering, and upping the price? (Not arguing at all, just clarifying.)

Just pointing out that they can take any limited beer and sell it in a 'numbered' bottle for a couple bucks more than they would sell it in a non-numbered bottle.

Aaahh, but the extra labor to number them justifies the extra cost.

There's no such thing as bottle variation, ask Levitation.

Unless they're sticking it in a barrel to age...I agree.

Well obviously a BA version of Beer X will be more than regular Beer X, and rightfully so. I'm simply saying BA Beer X in a numbered bottle will sell for more than BA Beer X in a non-numbered bottle, even though it's exactly the same product.

None of the above, since they do not bottle right it of the barrel. The beer is put into other tanks for clarifying and carbonation before bottling. Any flavor will mix up in there and there will be no difference.
