Going to be in the area for a few days for work. Planning to check out Boiler and Zipline. Is there any other suggestions that would be better? To note: my hotel will be by the airport and after a long day of work I'm doubting I'll by up for a long drive.
Boiler. Boiler. Boiler. Drink all you can, and grab any bottles they have available, (Also- Kincaider is about a block away and also very solid- Try the Devil's Gap if you like heat)
White Elm just released a delicious BA stout called Casual Friday. Someone else would have to speak to whether cans/draft pours are still available but there was still plenty of both when I left on Saturday.
It's great that you're coming to Lincoln - it's actually a pretty cool place. I was in NY last week for some work stuff at Columbia and took advantage of public transit to visit Other Half and some great bars. Unfortunately, you're not going to be in the best location for a beer tour, and we don't have the best bus system. The Zipline taproom is the closest to where you'll be and nice, and Boiler is definitely worthwhile as is White Elm, but I'd also suggest checking out Cosmic Eye if you're up for a drive or Uber. They're the newest brewery in Lincoln, and while they don't do a whole bunch of crazy stuff (like Boiler does), everything they make is super clean and super good. It's on the far east side of town, so pretty out of the way. That said, Zipline, White Elm and Cosmic Eye all package their beer, so you can grab some while in town, and you should do that grabbing at Moran's, the best beer store in Lincoln. They have a little taproom and sell singles of everything, so if you're not up for a big night out, you can drive a couple miles and grab an assortment of local bottles/cans and get down in your hotel.
Will look at Boiler one night, and White Elm\Zipline for the other. Any potential food options near White Elm?
There's really not much down by White Elm as far as food goes - it's not a very happening neighborhood, but they generally have a food truck there. However, White Elm just this week opened a second taproom in the Haymarket area a couple blocks from Boiler, and there are tons of great options down there for food. In that area, my faves are probably Leadbelly and Lazlo's, but any "Best of Lincoln" list is going to be like half restaurants within walking distance of there, so you're bound to find something that appeals to you.
Made it to Boiler last night, and their taplist was outstanding. Thanks to all for the feedback. Cheers!
