I don't see much love for Lindemans fruit Lambics anywhere on this site really, but was wondering if anyone has aged or is aging any of their beers. Maybe if someone has had aged Lindemans in the past and can offer perspective on how well they do?

The standard lindemans are pasteurized before adding fruit juice. They will not develop much in the bottle, but the fruitiness will fade. I prefer them fresh(er), but they are no longer my juice of choice do to a recent price increase

I find the fruit versions way too sweet anyway so I don't even buy them. I would imagine Cuvee' Rene' could see some time in the cellar though.

The added sweetness is probably a lot of the reason people aren't a huge fan of theirs on this site. I was just wondering, cause they're the only Lambic I can find readily around here, but if they're pasteurized I won't even bother.

Texas... when will you let me order beer online?! WHEN?!?

I had a Kriek from the late 90's and it tasted like a liquid cherry Jolly Rancher. Cuvee Rene does take some cellar time pretty well.

As good as that sounds in theory, as a beer, it seems unnatural. Avoid!

they are also sweetened with artificial sweeteners. cant see how well this would age. IMO, avoid

did NOT know that. Probably explains the disdain I sense when people bring them up on other forums

Btw Cuvee Rene is way underrated. It is as good as for instance Drei F Krieks or even better.

I see what you're saying, but comparing a Gueuze to a Kriek is a bit unfair. Cuvee Rene is a fine beer, but against, say Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueuze it doesn't stand a chance IMO. I'd say it's still at the lower end of the available Gueuzes out there.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Cvee Rene. It's probably the moat purchased beer, that isn't an IPA, at my house.

Maybe I was a bit unclear, but I talked about Kriek Cuvee Rene (of course), not gueuze.

I think, that Lindeman has bad reputation, because of that rubbis they produce a lot. Thats why those two "real" lambics are clearly underrated.

Unfortunately, Kriek Cuvee Rene doesn't even get sold in the United States, so it's a bit of a moot point.

I've ordered it off of Etre before. It's damn good and worth getting a bottle should you be ordering from any of the Belgium-based websites.
