Anyone think line cleaning is a problem in NJ? Have any bars to avoid or even better, not to avoid..?
I don't make it out much but I did speak with the owner of Maloneys in Matawan. Not only do the clean between each and every keg, but he designed the system himself. The lines from the kegs actually run into super tiny stainless lines that are chilled to ensure no waste when pouring. All in all it was cool to see the tiny diameter of the lines.
The Copper Mine Pub in North Arlington Andy's Corner Bar(cleanest lines anywhere) Barcade Jersey City are all known for having extremely clean lines. The Iron Monkey in Jersey City is a must avoid. They rarely clean their lines. I worked there 6 weeks and witnessed the lines get cleaned once right at the end of the 6 weeks and this was after me pleading that it should be done any time the beer changes and for steady lines at least once every 3 weeks.
A few years back the Crest Tavern seemed to have dirty lines on a couple different visits. Anyone been there recently? Any improvement?
Totally agree with benz08, shady operation @ Iron Monkey. I avoid that place out of principle from what I have heard about the ownership and they way they treat their employees.
Never really noticed a problem with the lines at the Crest tavern. Was there a few weeks ago and it was fine.
The Morris Tap and Grill in Randolph has quickly become my go to place. They seem to clean their lines fairly regularly and even have a sign behind the bar with the last "cleaned on" date. Haven't had an off tasting beer there yet.
