Since you know so well, I am assuming you must have been there when this happened to me? Were you the cashier behind the counter who asked his manager if he could sell it, or the manager who said it was on hold for one of the employees?

I think thou dost protest too much.

    And: you're a jerk.

Agreed. They have a very high rating, one of which looks like someone who signed up just to review two Liquor Barns and hasn't been back since posting the review. (suspicious?)

You guys need to blast the place with honest reviews so that people like me who don't know any difference don't waste our time going somewhere if we're visiting or new to town.

It's one thing to give your staff 1st crack, but keep it to yourselves. The good stuff needs no "twitting" out:rolling_eyes:, word will get out quick, though probably not nearly as quick as it leaves the distributors truck & into an employee's car.

OP should review the shop telling the posted story. ... In my experience, a bottle shop own has gotten in touch with me through BA after I posted a negative experience on BA and worked hard to fix the situation and make amends with me. That's advocating for your fellow BAs.

Wow... What a lame friggin store! I also can understand giving employees the first opportunity at cool stuff that comes in, but like others have said, keep it in the back then! What arrogant douchebaggery! I think my jaw would literally drop if this happened to me and I would hope that I would have the sack to tell them off as I left.

Don't listen to the haters, we know how hard you work, you deserve the whole case of Sucaba, if you ask me.

"So you're looking for whales they sell them"

O yea...I would have said "alright, no problem. I'll put the bottle back" Then the case would just somehow accidentally end up broken on the floor. "O no, I am so sorry. Well, at least they were only for your employees and not other customers. They'll understand. Whelp, see ya later"

Thank you guys for the feedback. I will leave a review as some have suggested, i think that is a good idea. The sad part is, I kind of liked this place and shopped there regularly as it was close to me and they seem to get a decent selection of pipeworks. After going there for a few months, I can see why some of the stuff sits on their shelves for so long. Now I just drive a little further but at least the places I go to now are honest.

**Black Friday update!** So I was 13th in line at Liquor barn in wheeling for their black Friday release, I arrived 2 and a half hours early. I was told they had a case of each variant and were allowing 1 choice per person. I decided to wait it out figuring I should at least be able to get a Vanilla Rye. The kicked everyone outside because the line "was obstructing their store". After waiting the remaining 2 hours in the cold, we finally got up to buy the bottles, and they decided to only sell 6 of each of their bombers, and hold onto the rest for a "tasting"! My next choice? 1 single bottle of Coffee. I also heard the employees saying some pretty nasty things to the customers who complained about the misinformation, and I even saw one of the employees leave the store to follow a customer who probably said something nasty. Ive never seen anything like it.

Liquor barn in wheeling is still #1 on my list of worst stores in the chicagoland area, and after this, I dont anticipate that changing anytime soon.
