Looks like that location is closing in the next few weeks. If you haven't been in there recently, their inventory is dwindling down, and it looks like they aren't taking anymore new shipments. I assume it has to do with them losing the zoning appeal with ABC due to their proximity to the Beverage Warehouse, but I haven't seen any new information on that. Here's a link to the original case if people are unaware of it http://insiderlouisville.com/business/liquor-barn/ I was wondering if anyone on here had any more inside information, confirmation on this happening? I was a pretty frequent customer of this location and will be kind of sad to see it go, however it'll probably be good for my wallet, as the other liquor barn locations aren't as convenient for me.
Yeah, it's been pretty pathetic there for awhile. You know things are bad when there is no Miller Lite in the cooler. But, this truly sucks. I went in there all the time. And assuming the closing is related to the ABC case, I won't be going to Beverage Warehouse, EVER. If you're going to file a complaint against Liquor Barn, you better at least have a nice beer cooler. And they don't. If you can't compete...complain.
What happens to there remaining stock? Do they sell to another store or sell to consumers at a deep discount. I would love to get some abt 12 or orval or whatever at a deep discount...Anybody know?
I'm pretty sure they can't deeply discount alcohol. My guess is anything that doesn't sell just goes back to the distributors.
The whole thing was pretty silly, especially since Beverage Warehouse is an awful store. St Matthews was always a little easier to get to for me from Lyndon, but between Springhurst and Middletown, there shouldn't be a ton of drop-off as far as what's available and it'll take one more stop off of my weekly rotation.
Yes, I just found out from a pretty good source that St. Matthew's liquor barn will be closing July 31.
That's the silver lining, I guess. But in St. Matthews, the options in my immediate proximity are limited. Beverage Warehouse is terrible and will be getting none of my business. Oh well. Time to adapt! Damn. That's quick. Might as well, though. Their stock is terrible.
If you're discontinuing something, and never plan to sell it again at that location, you can sell below cost.
