Are we sure there's really enough beer stuff to talk about to support a whole forum? Maybe we should just start a quarterly newsletter.

Pardon, but I don't see a pro-active consumer involved this matter, so I have a question. Have you used the tele-ma-phone for this issue, or gone back to the store with a screen shot of this and that receipt they give out when you purchased it and asked to speak to the manager about the price discrepancy between real world and screen life?

went to the liquor store in Plymouth wi and they had a bourbon county bs from 2013 sitting on the shelf for $18.00. I told the guy I can get a 2014 for half that else where. he told me that's cuz its aged. I said in a lite warm room for a year. personnaly, I think he may have ruined it.

Why is it shady if they sell something for more? Maybe their overhead is higher than the other place. In this country sales are governed by supply and demand. If you can find it for cheaper and it's worth it for you to do it you should go to the other store. The store by me charges a little more then most area stores but they have a friend of mine working there helping out. I hope he is making a good salary and if I have to pay a little more a six pack for that to happen it's fine by me because I like going there. Unfortunately price is everything to most people. Someday we may all be buying our beer from big box stores when all the little guys get put out of business.

There are so many thing wrong with this thread my head is spinning. What is wrong with this world and the sense of entitlement by people nowadays? By this logic OP should probably never buy a car, gas, even food from the same place twice as you will likely not get the same price every time, or even as the guy before or after you. I find it really hard to understand why you knowingly bought something at x price then found out it could be sold cheaper (whether it be same place or different place, doesn't matter), and come onto MULTIPLE forums and blast said place and call their practice shady, without trying to TALK to the "offender" first to make it right. In my opinion, they don't even owe you the $3, but probably would have given it to you anyways. However, they offered something for a price, you then took it to the register and paid for it. End of story, this sounds more like a case of buyers remorse than a reason to blast a business. Seriously, if you have this much heart ache over a $3 discrepancy, then you should probably not be buying craft beer, fine wine, etc.

Of course OP is probably just trolling and watching the inevitable flames.

LOL, the price of bottles of beer is volatile that they change by the hour. Correct me if I am wrong but a liquor store will buy bottles from a distributor at an agreed up price per case so when it's delivered they apply their percentage of markup then put it on the shelf to be sold. It's not like the stock market where prices are changing hourly, lol. The price change was literally hours after I bought my bottle.

And for the third time, did you call the store to ask about the discrepancy?

Hours after? What do you mean? And to be perfectly clear. You've already lost this battle and that $3 because you weren't pro-active, and you'll have to chalk it up to your own laziness to NOT BE PRO-ACTIVE.

Why be PRO-ACTIVE when you can be BRO-ACTIVE?

This is so dumb and not even worth responding to anymore. Don't ask for advice if you're not willing to accept it.

I popped a bottle of champagne last night and read this thread until the clock struck Midnight. It was quite possibly the best way to end 2014.

The OP sounds like the type of person who would walk into a Best Buy and Playstation 4 left by a customer on a DVD shelf, and then tell the cashier, "hey, the price label in front of the box said it was $19.99"

He loses this argument if he admits that he did not. He can't see that this is likely a mistake. A mistake that any retailer would apologize for and take care of.

Would the OP have gone back to the store and made things right if three hours later he would have seen it on beermenus for $3 more than he paid for it? I doubt it. He would have probably wished he bought more.

What's worse is when a store leaves everything unpriced and unlabeled, but decides to charge based on who is purchasing it (because they have no computer and just make up pricing at the register -- as a store in my neighborhood does).

I sincerely hope they go out of business, but alas people are willing to keep them alive.

$17.99 for plead the 5th at Rock Liquor In Davison. $13.99 at Nehrings in Burton. I was a little annoyed with this, but not the end of the world. When I saw it for $4 cheaper after I had already purchased, naturally I had to buy another 4 pack.
