Has anyone been to this? Curious if anyone has details about this year or had positive feedback on previous years. $40 is a bit steep for standard offerings if that is all they have.

    Any info would be great...

Put on by Lou Dog Events, who did the Naperville Ale Fest. For-Profit and likely not going to be a showcase of limited or hyped beers, but hopefully a bunch of casual drinkers enjoying things they may not otherwise try.

Edit: And yes, I'm just trying to be really nice. There's serious money to be made putting on a beer festival, and there are a lot of people who put in a lot of work for them and don't get a cut of that profit.

The Naperville Ale Fest had some outstanding beers both from the local breweries and out of towners. So, if the Lisle fest is anything like Naperville it'll be worth the $40.

There will be an excellent selection of fall seasonal beers that you don't usual see at beer festivals. We have Warlock and Pumking from Southern Tier, Censored and Rye Whisky aged Cappuccino Stout from Lagunitas, and Bourbon County, Casimir, and Night Stalker from Goose Island. We will also have Destihl, Tight Head, and Urban Legend at the fest.

Sounds promising. Will a tap list be published? Would like to see what there is before shelling out $55 so my wife can take me

The full list will be posted in the next couple of days. It looks like we will have 41 breweries and 88 different beers. And 14 different Oktoberfest beers and 9 different pumpkin beers.

I'd like to 2nd that request. I like to do a little bit of recon/planning before a fest if I can. I'm coming either way but it helps to know what to expect before I go.

Is that correct on velvet merkin? I hope they dont say it's Merkin when they meant Merlin. Decent list. Id go just for BCBS, Palo Santo, and Velvet Merkin. Also I dont see Southern Tier Warlock on that list. But I probably wouldnt pay 40 just to drink those 3.

LOL its got to be a typo, purposely or not. I think its safe to say no MerKin with a K will be coming to IL, not this year at least.

    I wish tho : (

I would pay the ticket price just to try it.

I have had it on tap in Chicago in previous years, so it isn't out of the realm of possibility. Still, $40 is too steep for what in listed. I might be biased as am not a huge fan of Oktoberfest or pumpkin beers, which seems to be the theme for this fall festival. I do like the fact that there are more beer fests in the area, but the price point will need to be adjusted if the lineup isn't going forward.

We have secured a case of the Velvet Merkin: 12 - 22 oz. bottles. There was a production delay at Southern Tier so Warlock isn't shipping to the Chicago market until mid October. We also have a 1/2 barrel of the Lagunitas Rye Whiskey Cappuccino Stout - first time it will be served in IL.

PlayaPlaya - if Lisle Ale Fest has a case of Merkin, save yourself the time, money and effort to get out there and try it. Surely Dekalb will be getting an entire pallet.

I'm 100% sure Merkin is getting distro'ed to chicago. Soon actually. I chatted up the firestone walker regional manager @ a tap takeover couple months ago and he confirmed it. Also my beer guy @ plainfield binnys said they're for sure getting it in soon.

Merkin has the same #s and distribution as Parabola and Sucaba.

Had it at FOBAB, wasnt impressed, but then again it was the lightest beer I tried, probably need to sample again with a clean palate.

Even drinking next to Parabola it is less impressive. A good beer on its own, but not when comparing. They hype is built because it is the first time being bottled.
