I know this has been brought up before, but with so many more age-worthy beers, this seems to be increasingly important. I read many reviews that don't list the year or date of the bottle. This would be really helpful given how much beers could potentially change over time. This could apply to a 10 year old beer, but it's just as important for an IPA. If I crack a year old Pliny, it's going to taste very different than its fresh counterpart. I know many people include this information, but it would be awesome to actually put that in the reviewing instructions found here: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/how-to-review-a-beer.241156/

Makes sense, sometimes a review will be completely off of what your getting in the beer, because his was 6 months to a year older then yours.

In the Forum labeled "Help," there is a sub forum called "Site" where you can make this suggestion and expect that someone who can act on the suggestion will see it.

Cool - thanks! I am also hoping to get some feedback. It seems like it would carry more weight if more people felt the same.

What do you do with beers that don't have bottling dates? :grimacing:

In all seriousness, I look for such information when I'm reading reviews. I feel I get more information reading a review for a beer that's approximately the same age as one I'm going to buy/drink.

Not to mention the beer itself changes from year to year (in terms of ingredients). I guess if it's different enough, it would warrant a separate entry, but this doesn't always happen.

I agree, I'm going to make this a habit.

    A year old Pliny?

I generally only list a vintage if the beer is not current (i.e., from a previous year). I add the bottling date when I can read it and sometimes include the best by date (if I remember).
