Hey guys, normally I'm a poster in the New to Ohio thread. Had to make my way over to this forum as we are going to be in the Denver area in April. I was going to come and ask about finding Pliny on tap, but I think I found what I was looking for. Looking for any advice on cool small breweries to check out in the areas mentioned in the title. We will be in Littleton for 2 days, Boulder for 2 days, and the rest of the time in Broomfield. My wife and I are big ipa/apa/dipa fans. I will more then likely be bringing along some Ohio goodies as well, but I will put that in the IP trade forums. If someone wants to PM me with any ideas of places we should definitely check out that are off the beaten path, that would be great. Looking forward to my trip out west!

Littleton itself doesn't have a whole lot brewery-wise, but I'd recommend Jake's Brew Bar (beer bar, not brewery) in downtown Littleton. Living the Dream and Grist are decent and nearby.

Since you're into pale ales, take some time and head east to Comrade Brewing to get the Superpower IPA.

In Broomfield, definitely stop by 4 Noses Brewing.

Boulder is easy, just do a little search for whatever you'd like to find there. Tons of great places.

In the Broomfield area: 4 Noses is killing it, Odd13 in nearby Lafayette is killing it, and downtown Louisville is nearby that has tons of great stuff (12Degree, Gravity, Lu Lu's, etc). Crystal Springs Brewing is also solid as is Big Choice.

For food IN Broomfield, I really hope you like Indian. That's all anyone seems to get right around here.

Yeah, Littleton doesn't have a ton. It might be tempting to go to the Old Mill...but I probably wouldn't. Jake's is definitely a good stop. McKinner's pizza across the street is, too although you're not going to find anything rare there. The pizza is really good, though. Otherwise, there isn't much in Littleton proper. Assuming you have a car, Littleton is still easy driving distance from the all star spots on the southeast side of town (Dry Dock, Comrade, Bull & Bush). You can also go straight up Broadway and hit Former Future, TRVE, and LowDown.

There is Locavore in Littleton they have a couple decent IPA's.

The Alamo Drafthouse, adjacent to the Alamo theater complex, keeps about 20 Colorado only beers on tap.

St. Patricks should be open in their new location at Santa Fe and Bowles, by then.

A bit further west is the High Plains Taphouse.

Thanks for the input so far. We are staying in Littleton with some relatives and will definitely have a car. We plan on doing our Denver touring for those couple of days. So we will be hitting up falling rock as well as some others you guys listed. When we go to Boulder, definitely going to Avery and a few others I have found. For our time in Broomfield, my wife will be at a conference and I will be on my own. That's when I plan to hit up some bottle shops as well as maybe an IP trade or two if I set up something. We definitely have the opportunity to get around as needed.

Littleton has a light rail stop, so that's a good option to avoid driving and get to some of the downtown and RiNo breweries: Great Divide, Crooked Stave, River North, Epic, Wynkoop, Breckenridge, etc. Here's a good map that allows you to zoom into certain areas of Denver to see what's around: http://www.fermentedlychallenged.com/p/denver-area-breweries-map.html.

Well we are coming up on our trip and getting things planned. I'm definitely checking out some of the breweries you guys listed so I appreciate it! In terms of bottle shops, what do you recommend? We will probably be looking at hitting some of them while we are in Boulder and Broomfield. I will have a car so can travel as needed while my wife is in her conference. Any good shops I should not miss?? Thanks!

The big bottle shops would be your best bets:

    South:
    Davidson's
    Lukas
    (both on County Line rd)

    N. Denver:
    Total Beverage (on Sheridan)
perhaps even Molly's (I-70 and Harland)

    Boulder:
    Boulder Liquor Mart
    Hazel's

There are more, but too many may just be confusing. These stores will have plenty

Also, was curious on your guys thoughts on Fate Brewing in Boulder. Seem to have quite a few beers on tap and some sound really good.

Locavore (haven't been, but a friend has a couple times and says it's good) and St. Patrick's (good) are the only breweries in Littleton that I know of. There's Old Mill Brewpub too, but I don't recommend it, personally.

Caution Brewing is in Lakewood, which isn't too far from Littleton. Then there's also a World of Beer up the street from Caution in Belmar. After that, you can hit Mile High Wine & Spirits (connected to Whole Foods) for a great selection.

What part of Ohio? I'm a northwest Ohio transplant.

I'm from the west side of Cleveland right by Hopkins airport. Thanks for the tips! I know we are for sure hitting falling rock and pints and pies. We are trying to figure out the other places while we are with family for two days.

I like FATE. It's an upscale restaurant (perhaps relative to other brewpubs) with a nice tap selection.

    Boulder recommendations.

    Breweries:
    Wild Woods
Avery's new spot is awesome with 30 tap handles

    Restaurants:
Backcountry Pizza - amazing beer list
The Kitchen Boulder - great bottle list and awesome food
West End - lots of tap handles and great bourbon list

    Bottle shops:
Hazels - biggest selection best prices
    Liquor Mart

No good bottle shops in Broomfield, Total Beverage in Westminster (close enough) is definitely the best spot. Hazel's has by far the best selection in Boulder, make sure to walk into the cooler in back and ask staff about any new rare beers. Backcountry is the best taproom and The Kitchen has a great bottle list for an upscale restaurant. Avery, Sanitas, Southern Sun and Wild Woods in Boulder, 4 Noses in Broomfield. Cheers

I am definitely checking out Hazel's. The people we are staying with work at Avery so we will definitely go there and was definitely planning on hitting up southern sun. Also want to check out Fate in boulder. Backcountry has a crazy tap list! Going to check out there as well. I figure between hazels, any shops I hit in Denver, and if I set up an IP trade I should come back with some great Colorado beers! The goal (like so many others) is to try Pliny on tap. My search will start (and hopefully end) with Falling Rock.

Backcountry had Pliny and Blind Pig on tap last time I was there (about a week ago). They have it on a lot.

I'd skip FATE personally, too many much better places in Boulder. You could do worse though.

So I just found out that we are not going to be in Littleton, but will actually be in Lakewood. Anything I can't miss there? Also, our plan is to hit up Falling Rock on Tuesday afternoon after we land. (first we are stopping at one of the new "recreational tourism" shops). I figure that it shouldn't be that busy and we plan on having some lunch and grabbing a beer or 5. How is the lunch food at Falling Rock?
