I am heading there in a few weeks and may have a few free hours. Which close by brewery should I hit while I can? Thanks
Littleton is my hood, and is actually a bigger area than most realize. Do you know where specifically you will be? Will you have access to a car or are you relying on public transportation and walking? The best spot in Littleton without a doubt is Jake's Brew Bar in Downtown Littleton (Santa Fe & Bowles Ave). They consistently have a taplist which rivals some of the most recommended beer spots in Denver. As for breweries, you obviously have the new Breckenridge Brewery (Santa Fe & Brewery Ave). It's a spectacular facility, but to me it has too much of a restaurant feel as opposed to a taproom feel. They have all the usual Breck offerings along with some guest taps. Food is decent. However, you're supporting the evil empire if you choose to go there. My favorite local brewery is probably Locavore Beerworks. They have a solid variety of offerings and a good taproom. St. Patricks is just around the corner and has an awesome outdoor spot if it's a nice day. The beer is alright, and know that they have rubbed some feathers with controversial support of change to liquor laws here in CO. You can always hop on the light rail and get downtown if you are so inclined.
Will you be walking? If not, don't limit yourself, there are some great places just a few more minutes outside of Littleton... Like Comrade or Black Project
Depending on what part of Littleton you're in (as mentioned above, it's actually pretty large) you could be fairly close to other suburbs like the DTC, Englewood, Lakewood, and not that far from Denver, Aurora, and Golden. If you have a car, you're well within reach of all of them in just a matter of 10-15 minutes. If you don't have a car, see the above posts for some solid advice. The light rail can take you within walking distance of 30 different breweries/beer bars if you have time.
I would hit up living the dream for sure. Best brewery around Littleton IMO. I would agree with Jake's brew bar, but would avoid St Patrick's. Last time I went there the group I went with got sick. Wondering if they didn't clean their taplines. We called and asked if anyone else reported getting sick and they said no. Not sure I'd risk it with all the other great breweries to hit up.
I've lived in the area for about 10 months, and I just have to pile on with everybody else and say that Jake's Brew Bar really is a must-visit. I'd choose to go there over the closest breweries almost every time, and it is right in the middle of downtown Littleton. Just one point - the address is actually at W. Main Street between Curtice and Nevada (earlier poster said Sante Fe and Bowles, which is close but not quite there). If you have more time, Living The Dream out on the SW side of the area would be a good option. I also like The Pint Room as they have a HUGE taplist, pretty good food, and very friendly staff along with a nice patio overlooking the Platte. It's at W. Belleview and S. Prince. I see you are from Illinois - so keep a watchful eye out for all of the Ohio State Buckeye fans at Pint Room if you happen to go on a Saturday.
Forgot all about the Pint Room. That place has a borderline excessive list of taps. We're talking 175+, and the majority are really good, too. They're also across the parking lot from one of the few authentic New Mexican restaurants in the area, too.
Technically Jake's is located at 39.613460 latitude, -105.017819 longitude. Earlier directions will get you close but not EXACTLY there Jokes aside, Living the Dream is a good recommendation as is Grist which is nearby, but on the east side of Santa Fe Ave. Technically I think it's Highlands Ranch, but it's closer than LtD.
