Unlike Anchor, you'll have no trouble picking up the remaining cans from stores. I had some sweetened stout from them once & struggled to finish it. #shelfturdsthattasteliketurds
Had a few of their beers - they did some interesting styles and beers, but I never felt the need to pick them up again. Still, sad to see them go under.
They had a cool space and we had fun checking out the local markets they’d host. The beer was never great, though. Just kinda meh. It was far enough from 18th st (the actual street in Pilsen (the neighborhood, not the city in the Czech Republic)) that we never thought to go there when catching a show at Thalia Hall.
Definitely sucks. One of the few breweries locally that go after Belgian styles. Who else has a Duvel-style beer on their menu? Coconut Quad is rather awesome as well. Czech Pils and the Coffee version are really nice too. They aren't perfect, but they are well worth checking out if you never stopped by.
Ah yes the Belgian tradition of putting coconut in a Quad and who can forget the day the coffee truck crashed into the Czech brewery.
https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/32855/205834/ This is the best alternative I can find for a Belgian Coconut Quad but I can't verify if Goochland, VA was a magnet of Belgian immigrants to the New World.
Like any great explorers they probably hovered around for a while before moving on to more promising parts.
If you want to know more about the Lickinghole Creek Craft Brwy. of Virginia, I have an article about it in this copy of the Japan Beer Times I scarfed back in April. As for LoRez; I got there this Summer. It brewed a custom beer for Delilah's, and Mike M. does not suffer lousy beers. (It was too hoppy for me.) I offer its location not being close enough to the core of Pilsen [c.v. above]. People should familiarize themselves with the transit routes that connect breweries and beer bars. (The breweries on S. Michigan Ave. are walking distance to Cermak Rd. The route #21 Cermak bus has lengthy operating hours, and frequently runs 60-foot articulated buses, which is indicative of more densely used lines.)
