The reviews I've read haven't convinced me that it's worth stopping by. I'm in the area and was thinking about stopping by for a big bottle or two. Anybody have the details on relative pricing and selection?
Agreed. I stopped in last night. The prices seemed a bit hit or miss. Some average, some high even for Philly. In terms of selection, though, it seems to be the place to go for special releases or anything that falls in the "sours" category. At least 5 gueuzes stocked, good Russian River sour representation, and all the big flanders reds. Plus I spied a few 4-packs of a certain DIPA getting old in a cooler..
Absolutely not! It's terrible! I like the store and they do a good job at appeasing BA's and the hip West Philly crowd. The staff is helpful, if over-eager, never had a problem with nonchalant, too cool attitude that plagues many other bottle shops. I stop by after work about 2 times a week as it's a slight detour on my bike ride home. They have lots of nice stuff that the owners have been stockpiling for a couple years while waiting for this store to open. I'm kind of curious what the store will carry in 6 months or a year when the couple years of reserve get thinned out. Their prices are pretty good but somethings seem to expensive. Not the hugest selection, but well curated. You should definitely find something that you'll want to buy
