A lot like what Tommy Lee said to Will in MIB I: "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it."

This statement is way off. It makes it sound that you believe the only people who should be able to obtain these beers are those who put in time and effort and that those who can obtain these beers don't put in such time and effort. And perhaps the bottle shop doesn't want a shitshow on the weekend when they do plenty of business to begin with. Why crowd the store with people who are there just to buy one product and chance that people who go there to buy several products will turn away due to the crowds. You need to realize that life doesn't change for your personal pleasure or convenience, it goes on regardless of what you think about it. Save your bitching for something you can control. Here's a quote from Mickey Rivers: "I don't get upset over things I can control, because if I can control them there's no sense in getting upset. And I don't get upset over things I can't control, because if I can't control them there's no sense in getting upset." Follow this advice and you won't get so stressed out about what you can't control.

The thing that bugs me is the replies from students / people who don't work "normal hours" / unemployed / trust fund / people who work in the beer industry that say "stop complaining" when you mention you can't get to a store 20 miles away until 6:00 pm and the limited releases are gone.

I guess that I ought to count myself lucky that I have a decent job, so I stopped complaining and stopped chasing bottles. Mostly.

I work for myself, so I don't care when they post them. I can run out whenever and get what I want. On the flip side this is a good way to spend too much money on beer.

Call me old school but I like walking in the shop and asking what's new...I'd rather develop a good rapport with my beer merchant than let artificial intelligence do the job.

I can't say I mind it. My wife functions as my "surrogate" during the ones that I can't make, and if neither one of us can get there, we'll chalk it up to a wash.

I'll echo the theme of the thread, though - my local manager is aces, and is always willing to hold something for me if I ask nicely.

I'll just leave work if its something I really want; got to get your priorities straight.

I have a couple shops that do this. I can understand the annoyance, especially when it's something they can't/won't do a hold on, but most of the time they allow holds plus I work from home a lot and can often make the trip if I want.

Am I annoyed that people who work selling beer do their work during work hours? No.

They should definitely post when they get there weekly shipments of local releases and such, it's great for business no doubt.
But when they post something limited to the area like say (Abraxas for an example) and they have 11-12 bottles, no holds & 1 per person on a random day/time it's kinda crazy.

Maybe I should have re-worded the title, wasn't trying to bash people's jobs schedules and such. Seems some are catching feelings. Was more aiming at the randomness of highly limited releases. Not the weekly mediocre stuff.

So you want companies to change policies in a way that will negatively affect business just to convenience you?

It sounds like the guy just wanted to blow off a little steam about not getting a few beers and I can see how social media could feel like rubbing salt in the wound.

To the OP it just comes with the territory man...some people can pick up beer in the middle of the day or stand in a release line for a whole day when others have to work. Maybe one day you'll have a random day off and it just happens to coincide with a big release. Just be happy with what you can manage and make friends with people. Maybe somebody will send you a beer or a friend could pick it up for you.

So loyal customers only work first shift?

What about loyal night shifters who sleep well into the day?

Or second shifters who would be left out if stores started posting after they went to work?
