    Within 5 miles of my house (Loyal Heights) on Brewery Map, there are 25. Ten miles goes to 56 breweries and 25 miles is 117.

    Apparently we are, most of us, blessed to be able to drink a wide variety of local beer. With so many breweries close by, and so many more set to open soon, I think the dynamic of buying only beer shipped from distant breweries to store shelves is changing, and changing quickly.

    Ventura, CA (an hour-ish northwest of Los Angeles). Can't confirm there are >8 specific breweries opening in the next year, but I think it's pretty safe to assume.

    In Altoona, PA I have 4 within an hour drive. Marzonis, Railroad City Brewing Co, Ottos, and Happy Valley Brewing Co.

    SW suburb of Minneapolis. More than 10 breweries within an hour of me, and more than 8 are slated to open in the next year. Minnesota is in the midst of a boom.

    Northeast LA, even with slow traffic there are now over 10 breweries within an hour. 3 breweries within a 20 minute bike ride.

    Red Deer, Alberta. Halfway between Edmonton and Calgary, which both have solid beer scenes, but are a good 90 minute drive away. Our local brewery, Drummond, has recently picked up its socks with a solid line of craft beer. 30 minutes south is Olds College, which has Brewmaster and Brewery Operations program, along with a great retail store. I'm thrilled that another brewery, Troubled Monk, is opening this summer. Things are finally looking up for craft beer lovers in my part of the world!
