I'll be visiting in-laws for the holidays and my FIL wants to get some nice local craft beer for me to try that would be fairly available in Raleigh. Besides Wicked Weed, what can I have him look out for?

I'm in Chicago and not super familiar with non-big name stuff (Westbrook, WW, etc) in the Raleigh area.

    Thanks!

A few specific bottle/can beers that are available now that I would ask him to look for, besides Wicked Weed:

Olde Hickory Event Horizon (BA imperial stout)
Olde Hickory Lindley Park (raspberry stout)
    Lynwood Hop on Top (IPA)
Haw River has some various saisons/farmhouse ales that are good if you like that style
Foothills Jade (IPA, just recently released in 6-pk format)
Raleigh Brewing Company Miller's Toll (imperial stout, also a BA version)
Raleigh Brewing Company Hidden Pipe (coffee porter)

Not sure if you get alpine where you are but it is all over the Raleigh area - Alpine Duet, Pure Hoppiness, Nelson & Hoppy Birthday

For the locals: I'm going to be in Raleigh next week for 2 nights. Very limited time to shop for beer, no car available to explore but will be downtown 1 night. Will be spending most of the time near the airport and downtown Raleigh for dinner.

Is Wicked Weed or Westbrook decently available in any bottle shops? If so, which? Anything else I should be on the lookout for (any of the above listed items still hanging around)?

Does NoDa distribute up there? Would love to bring back some HDR again.....

    Thanks for the insight!

Check out Trophy brewing - I don't think they do much bottling but they do growlers and the stuff I've had from them was fantastic

Most good bottle shops have a wide selection of Wicked Weed. Westbrook is out there if you are looking for stuff like Gose or IPA etc. Many stores in the area had Hop, Drop and Roll last week but it might not still be around. As to the list above, you can still find many of those on the shelves. I would highly recommend the BA Miller's Toll from Raleigh Brewing, it's amazing! I would try and hit Tasty while downtown given your schedule. Good luck!

If you're downtown, Tasty Beverage on W Davie is probably your best bet. They are closed today for a staff party but open tomorrow. You should be able to find Wicked Weed stuff no problem and probably some of Westbrook's typically distro'ed stuff. HDR, probably not, but sometimes you can find other Noda cans. They might also have Skillet Donut from Burial which is worth checking out.

The 12/30 dated Pernicious that's around is so damn good, definitely scoop some of that. And locally, Trophy's Double Death Spiral is something to seek out on draft either at one of their 2 spots or possibly on at a bottle shop as of very recently.

If you see any Skillet cans let me know, but I think most places that got them have sold out of this batch. Thank the lord it should be back again soon though!

Might be a bit tough without having a car and being near the airport. But, if you are going to be in downtown Raleigh one of the nights, you might want to pay a visit to one of the following locations. Probably about the best selection of NC beers in Raleigh proper and it will give you the opportunity to sample some beers before committing to buy at a bottle shop. Agree with CavemanRamblin. If you are into IPA's, Pernicious is arguably the best coming out of the State right now. Regarding NoDa's HD&R... look for another thread in this section regarding quality issues / concerns. Even if you were to find some, personally, I would shove it aside in a heartbeat in exchange for Pernicious.
