Local Store Inventory?

As a software analyst and a newb to craft beer, I really appreciate this site. The search and navigation features are awesome as well as the rating functionality.

I had a thought when I noticed that the owner of one of my local stores has an account and has reviewed plenty of beers. Has there been any consideration to letting store owners register a "store" account, then updating when they get certain beers in stock? Regular users could "follow" a specific beer they like or want to try, then opt-in for notifications when a store near them updates their beer as being in-stock.

If something like this already exists, please let me know (and my apologies for not finding it on my own).
