As my desire for tart sourness increases I find it more and more desirable to seek out locally made sour beers. The problem is that we don't get much of that around these parts. Last night I had a pretty good one at Barley Johns and I hear that they have another one in the hopper. Other then the return of Pentagram has anyone heard of any other Minnesota breweries that have plans to quench my thirst for the wild? I write this as I stare at a bottle of Supplication in the fridge and wonder when can I have something like that in my back yard.

Man that Wild Wild Burnette is great, Barley Johns is really starting to roll out more and more great brews.

I asked on their Facebook page yesterday and did not get a response other than they had released two full kegs now and "after that you will see pop up now and again..."

Had an Unleaded IPA at BJs Fri afternoon. Solid, well hopped 4.9% pale ale. Heard about the Wild Brunette. Sounds interesting. I like that they let some local flora have a go at it.

Not to sure on growlers, I was up there and did not ask, Ill be up there tmrw as well, so I will be checking on it. The TNT Imperial IPA on Nitro is solid as hell as well.

Other than Surly Pentagram, the former Flat Earth sours (Extra Medium and the Flanders Red), an occasional Summit brett keg (not sour, but wild), or the occasional brew pub experiment, not much in this area for locally created wilds.

PS: "Wild" wild brunette was not available in growlers when I checked last Saturday. Hoping to get some at this year's Where The Wild Beers Are as it was quite nice.

Any word on what the date for WTWBA is going to be? I make a point to look at the site from time to time but haven't seen anything.

Leech Lake seems to be putting out some sours. Whether or not it is intentional, I can't say.

I tried an unintentional sour Maibock (don't need to get into the producer...) the other week. I seriously thought somebody had used the bottle to bring a home-brew sample! I was relieved when i found out that it was just infected, I didn't have to tell anyone their sour experiment had gone horribly wrong...

Joe, i agree completely and have been battling this same thought for a while now. just waiting for that breakthrough farmhouse brewery that does funky saisons, wilds, and sours. patience I guess.
If i had money on a current brewery that might break into this, it'd be Ovalde. a reach? maybe... maybe not.

If you know something the rest of us don't, please tell us. The brewer at Ovalde seems to prefer his yeast driven ales, so it seems a bit of a reach for him to let bugs into his beers.
