    After having Arrogant Bastard, every other beer tasted better. The bitterness on everything always turned me off, but after Arrogant Bastard I could really start detecting the intricacies of other beers, particularly those that weren't meant to be that bitter/hoppy

    If the person really wants to break into craft beer, have them try as many different things as possible. The only way to begin to figure out what beer can be is to open up you palate. Sure he might hate some, but so it goes. Keeping someone on who is accustomed to light beer drinking light beer, even if it is craft, defeats the purpose. There are some great beer suggestions above, but IMO, taste taste taste. Everything.
