Can anyone confirm for me that Logsdon's best by dates are 5 years out? Have a Seizoen Bretta with a best by year of 2018 and am wondering if I should have it sooner or later. Google doesn't seem to have my answer.
I had a Conversion the other day which was wonderful: softly lactic, apricots, thrown hay, slight malt. It could have aged WAY past the "best before" date (which was ~ 04/15).
Logsdon is bottle conditioned, so will definitely change character over time. For SB, I would let it go a few years just because I find the fresh version to not be funky enough (damn good beer still).
Picked up some Kili Wit at the local QFC a couple months ago that was 5 months past best by date ($1.99 each), tasted great only indication of age was high carbonation.
Yes, best by dates are 5 years out from the date they were bottled. Example: if you have a best by "03/2018" the beer was bottled on 03/2013
Didn't we have B1 Bretta at the Hop & Vine share? I seem to remember losing half of it to foam and obviously being "past" but I can't remember how far past it's Best by date it was. Anyone?
I don't think any Bretta are past their best-by date yet. I stashed away an early bottle, and I'm pretty sure it was best by sometime in 2016. As to the question: I think the dates are different for their different beers. I'm fairly sure that SB is 5 years out, but just plain old Seizoen is only 2 or 3 years, I think.
